Long story short, I am going through a divorce. So far it has been a mutual thing, and hoping it will be uncontested and done with mere paperwork as thats in both of our best interests. Neither one of us needs lawyer fees.

We have been living apart for a month now, taking the time to separate assets (not much) and just in general get a grip with whats going on. This week will be the start of moving things around like car loan, phone plans, bank accounts, etc.

She is on my health plan through my employer. It cost me an extra $374 a month to keep her on. I am requesting her to pay this, along with her share of phone bill, car insurance, and car payment as I am letting her keep it. She agreed, at first. Now she thinks it is not fair because her bills and living expenses are almost all of her income, and im sitting pretty with cash in the bank for once in the 4 years we have been together (2 of which married).

I cannot remove her from my plan and she cannot enroll at her work until the divorce is final or certain papers are presented or some such thing.

Do you guys think I am in the wrong asking her to pay for her healthcare? Keep in mind she is no longer living with me, we rarely talk and she has no real medical problems.

Voice your opinions, state your experiences, or ask questions. Everything is game here.

Hire an attorney , Trust me.
If for some reason down the road something isn't working out with things agreed on like you both had planned, a situation of "he said she said" wont matter in court, but paper work drawn up by a lawyer will.

No i'm not a lawyer I have just been down the exact road you're walking down.

Agree ^ hire an attorney!! Get in touch with Cordel and Cordel. See if they have a local office in your state. They specialize in keeping men from getting screwed.

Get an attorney, like crank said, "he said she said" doesn't fly, paperwork does. My cousin got bit in the ass over child support because his ex changed her mind after they had agreed to something and he had nothing to show the judge.

You can ask for anything you want, but she does not have to do anything. If your paperwork is done and filed is it cheaper to pay her insurance for a little while until it is done, or hire a lawyer, still pay for her insurance until its done. If you cannot take her off anyway it does not really matter. I would shut up and wait it out, although a lawyer is never a bad idea.

Well, ROWDY makes and interesting point...

About what I expected in answers. Im just glad we didnt make it far. No house, no kids, just a car. Its mine, but shes going to take over the loan and make it hers. I dont want the damn thing.

Easiest part of the whole thing? She told me to keep our kitchen crap (all gifts) because she cant cook.

Hardest part? For her it was splitting up the 200+ DVD collection. For me? Keeping the dog or not...

Decisions decisions...

Keep the dog and the porn, let her have the rest and keep your garden weeded.

So far I have ended up with exactly everything I wanted "thumbsup"

Great! Do what you gotta do to keep her happy until everything's final. I know of people that didnt and the woman made their life hell. Once it's final put it behind you and move on. Good luck. "thumbsup"

Everything is game here.

You answered it.
Not all, but most women are contradicting in their thought process. They fluctuate a lot. Today it might be all goody goody and like someone said above she might change her mind later. Pullover the blanket of law to safeguard yourself;-)

What can she do if she can't cook?:lmao:

You can't always go to a restaurant or come back home tired form work and have to cook.

Been in your shoes man, nothing is worth fighting over. If you end up spending the extra money on her insurance for a few months, think about it as paying for your happiness and freedom.

You know why divorces and divorce lawyers are so expensive, right? Because they're worth it!

There is one more thing about divorces. Its all planned into the system. The government rules are laid out in such a way that divorce will happen and when they happen, it profits none other than law and its components.
I will find and post a documentary that I had seen about this.

I feel its better to not get married for at least 5 yrs after there is a new born in a couples life or better never. Some develop that deep connection with each other pretty soon and some don't and take time.
Anyway, is it really necessary to have a paper stating that these two people are tied together! :x

Attorney hired for uncontested divorce that she agreed to. Financial statement given. Saved up my bucks while her dumbass went telling people shed take my money in the divorce (dont think she knew what uncontested really meant). Paid my money. signed the papers. She did not want to be served so I told her where to go. She stalled. Called her daddy on her. He drug her in and she signed. Done.

Now waiting for it to go through the courts. With all luck Ill have news to spread for the holiday get together!
