Long story short, I am going through a divorce. So far it has been a mutual thing, and hoping it will be uncontested and done with mere paperwork as thats in both of our best interests. Neither one of us needs lawyer fees.
We have been living apart for a month now, taking the time to separate assets (not much) and just in general get a grip with whats going on. This week will be the start of moving things around like car loan, phone plans, bank accounts, etc.
She is on my health plan through my employer. It cost me an extra $374 a month to keep her on. I am requesting her to pay this, along with her share of phone bill, car insurance, and car payment as I am letting her keep it. She agreed, at first. Now she thinks it is not fair because her bills and living expenses are almost all of her income, and im sitting pretty with cash in the bank for once in the 4 years we have been together (2 of which married).
I cannot remove her from my plan and she cannot enroll at her work until the divorce is final or certain papers are presented or some such thing.
Do you guys think I am in the wrong asking her to pay for her healthcare? Keep in mind she is no longer living with me, we rarely talk and she has no real medical problems.
