New Axial "working on something fast"

Its not really about what you got in your rigs. We all know you are proud of your 3s lipo and dana60s....i mean ar60s. Its about design and durability at speed. Axial products don't have the width, wheelbase, and suspension to compete with real "bashers". In case you weren't aware, there's a whole segment of rc dedicated to real basher rigs. I can drive a kia like a racecar - it don't make it a racecar.

Theres a reason I will let kids drive my emaxx and not my axial stuff.

What you call a basher everyone else calls a monster truck or truggy. ;-)

You mean on a short course track? Yeah you are right.

On the second part of your statement, my rig does 23 mph. I smash it flying through the air into 2 foot rocks, over and over, once a month. I've seen well built 4x4 SC trucks attempt to do it, and fail without making a lap.

Werd, I beat my junk every time I drive it. Lately the exo has been living in paddles to play in the big dunes by my house and the tube thing is getting treated like a rental as I take it rock bouncing, hill climbing, jumping it monster truck style and even running in the dunes when I'm bored doing the rest.

That's why I said "scale basher". I don't jump my wraith 30' but it regularly gets jumped 10'. It does great monster truck style backflips and goes 25+mph. Perfect scale basher imo. I enjoy it a lot more than bashing 1/8 scale buggies and independent suspension monster trucks that I have had.

Yup jumping something on solid axles is a whole 'nother game than launching an e maxx or a savage that's for sure!

What is a real basher?

I'd like to know too. So far 1/8 scale monster truck are the only real bashers out there as far as I can tell. We'd better stop using the term bashing when referring to how we drive our little solid axled rigs since apparently that term has been copyrighted by another segment.

The intended purpose of my rig is to throw it at unreasonable obstacles, at un reasonable speed. Then, hopefully, drive away.

It's all about what you want from your rig. A stock rig is definitely up to the challenge. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KfailcN3BPw

Either way, drive it like you stole it, or drive it for the long run... who cares. To each his own.

Since I have a shop full of purpose built r/c's that I don't use, the all around rig seems the best, and for me it is.

Indeed. Drive it like it owes you money and put a smile on your face doing it.

What if it was an entirely new axle design? SCX axle with removable diff covers? Lets start some rumors and see where they go lolol

New transmission coming in the deadbolt:

Transmission: Designed to place motor weight as low as possible
to maintain a low CG, adjustable ratio from 15:1 - 74:1, dual
slipper clutch with 32 pitch gearing for high torque applications
allows transmission to slip in hard binds

Notice it says 32 pitch gears? Dual slipper clutch?

Compare that to the description for the JK G6:

choices, full ball bearings and slipper clutch

So, it seems axial is actually trying to make the transmission stronger (although I've yet to break a single axial transmission, ever).

And the $300 rtr price is nice, especially for a waterproof esc.

Before I finished typing this, axial just put the deadbolt on their site... here's the dual slipper clutch:

The AE-5 ESC:

But, I'm not seeing anything about the 32 Pitch trans gears on the site... oh, nevermind, the spur gear is 32P. That isn't that hard to swap out though...

It's interesting they're using bridge plugs for setting drag and battery vs. a GUI through software. Wonder if the plugs are just for quick changes and there will be another interface. Definitely not a Castle based ESC this time.

Hope they tighten up the sloppy shaft to bearing tolerances and the in and out play on top shaft.

Cheaper, easier production line setup...and looks like cheaper manufacturer.

AE-5 ESC is the exact same ESC that you get from the Exceed/Nitro RCX/Himoto RTR vehicles. I know, I own two of them. They actually work fine, and have one in my Wraith for when I run it at the beach, in salt water!

It auto detects the voltage cut off. The same ones by Hobbywing cut right at 3.2 volts per cell. I've tested it and thought I would kill a battery, but it cut off consistently regardless if it was 2/3 cell, fully charged, or partially discharged.

I don't run an external BEC either...The HH BRXL has a 6v BEC which is all my older hitec servos are power rated for..I get a whopping rock busting 177 oz/in-Tq.from my 985MG..lol

Iron track ESC: ($25)

Mad Gear ESC: ($20)

One way to make the RTR price $300 is to use cheap parts. This looks like how they are doing it with the ESC.
