I've used a lot of info from this forum over the past year and now that I have 2 different rigs, I thought it best to join in. I'm relatively new to the rc world and have an scx10ii and a bomber. The scx10ii has cheap 120mm shocks, aluminum axles, a savox 1231 steering servo and custom links. The wheelbase was stretched to 13.75 inches and I run a 3s battery most of the time. It's a fun rig and the changes I've made have really helped. I also pulled some smd LEDs from a light that came with my 2000 lumen flashlight and made some nice headlights. They're 300 lumens a piece. They work great. I typically just drive these at home. My entire yard is basically a scale crawler park with a little bit of open space for some speed.
I bought the bomber rtr for my son and its completely stock. I plan on upgrading the servo once the stocker snaps, but I haven't decided on one yet. I'm looking at the promodeler 470, but I dont know if you can run a brushless servo with the AE5 esc. I'll certainly throw in a bec and might get one for my scx as well. One other thing I need to do is get some more speed out of it. My son wants a basher/crawler. I snagged a 56t spur gear to throw in, hoping that it helps a bit. I'll run a 3s on it as well.
My goal for all mods is to build what I can on my own and balance cost with performance for parts I cant make. I'm not competing and just want solid reliable parts. These little trucks are a lot of fun and theres plenty of creative freedom to build/try many things.
