New OCM 2.2 Crawler Review

Just a dremel, a drill, and about 30 minutes leads to this. Should be able to get both sides complete on Saturday. Then I get to figure out all the servo/battery stuff all over again.:)

Any updates on this rig?
Not too much to mine. It has done pretty well at GTGs and Comps (2nd at the last VARCOR comp), so I haven't been determined to make too many changes.

Running Axiom 45Ts, which provide enough torque, and also enough speed that I can jump rocks when funtime hits.:D I think 55Ts would be just fine for this truck.

Clocked the front axle, which was pretty easy, and has helped front clearance greatly.

Hope to pick up some Clod narrow Eritex Inc beadlocks in the very near future, which will narrow it up some. ALTHOUGH, IMO, the stock width isn't as big of a deal and many lead on. The comments of "it is WAY too wide for 2.2," just isn't true IMO.

Next improvements will be CVDs in the front, and experimenting with how high I can I take this thing without compromising COG too much."thumbsup"

The great news is that after quite a few trips out, and not taking easy on it at all, I have yet to damage or break any OCM part. The only trail breakage I have had is shearing a knuckle screw in half on the front end, which wasn't even the stock screw.

The OCM trucks made a good showing at the East Coast Championship this weekend.

1st and 3rd in the 2.2 class and 1st in the SUPER class.

????????????

WTF is going on w/ the Newage. Was going to order one this morning, but didn't have enough $$$ on the card. Got the money on there and went to A Main Hobbies and it's not even listed anymore!

Just this, and it's backordered.

Looks like the exact same truck w/ a few different colors and a lower price. CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Austin is running a GC-2 / NewAge setup, mine is the GC-1 / NewAge rig. Austin ran mine in the Super class. The first time he pulled the trigger on mine was to go through the start gate.

BTW, from my understanding amainhobbies.com will be importing the NewAge Berg rigs now. They are identical to the OCM version of the NewAge.

This is a deal that has been in the works for some time. I told those at ECC that the OCM NewAge would be gone by Monday. The Berg NewAge will be available in a matter of days.

Must be nice to be in the know! I'm jealous :x

Did Berg buy out OCM or just copy their design? OR is this some kind of joint venture?

Must be nice to be in the know!

It is.

From what I know, the Berg is the same thing, only polished or silver or something.

I guess I'm only kinda in the know.

No, I know.

And we'll have to start refering to the truck as a Newage Berg. Newage being the producer of it, and the Berg being the name.

well what ever it is call . I must have got the last one with Black Axles . :flipoff: cause after I got mine A-Main didn't show them anymore .

This should be interesting!!

The Bergs are listed at nearly $100 cheaper......................and also, enroute offers complete axles through their site (outrageously high prices though). If amain starts distributing the axles separately, prices should be reasonable."thumbsup"
