I'm waiting on some fixes to my new lockers, so when I get those, I'll pull apart the rear axles and try using the plastic axial lockouts and see if I get the issue or not. My thought was it was more of an issue with the Vanquish rear lock outs being really tight.

About have my battery 'cage' done; used some lexan for the firewall and sprayed it with some truck bedliner. Give it some texture, but thought it might be better than just some black paint. Seems to work decently, maybe spray the bottoms, etc. of my panels, etc. with it too.

Working on my electronics box using some of WarTrader's ideas.

Trying to decide if I want to use the BRXL from the Honcho or try and waterproof an MMP (via CorrosionX, which seems to have gotten good reviews in a lot of the boat forums and airplane forums where they were running pontoons, etc)... its out of warranty so if it gets screwed up, no real loss there. Just gonna run the other 30t Crawlmaster motor with whichever one.

Also trying to come up with some ideas of adding a bit of weight to the chassis without putting it on the wheels. Was thinking of some larger lead fishing weights that get screwed to the chassis plate. Thoughts?

Because its un-sprung weight... which racer background in me has issues with.:) Maybe not as big of deal with crawlers/rockracer/koh, but still. But also rotating mass which puts more stress on the driveline, motor, etc.

In a comp crawler, even one that has some wheel speed, its probably not as big of deal because they just don't go fast for long periods of time. In our scalers? Especially, again unless we do a KoH, we still aren't going extended periods of time at speed, but definetly requiring more speed for trail runs, etc. than a comp crawler.

Or maybe I'm just smoking something funny.

i didnt have the short axle issue... although i read the short axle thread after i did all my work so i cant tell you if my diffs are reversed or not.

i need to see somebodies wraith running something more punchy than the 3s/35t brushed setup i have. i would just up some teeth on the pinion, but then i'm afraid i'll lunch the motor...
 
I go back to my days racing bicycles and agree that rotating mass is worse that static mass. In the general crawler world and even on our scalers, that is not too much of an issue especially as you really want your weight as far forward and as close to the surface as you can get, hence wheel weights. Buy Chris is right, Putting your weight in the wheels on a KOH rig is a recipe for drive train disaster if you overdo it.

I was going to put my Stainless Steel Montruks with the TSLs on my wraith with the new Blazer body and the MMP/13.5 combo but I think that it will just drastically increase the possibility of broken axles and steering components. I believe that I am going to stay with my narrow aluminum wheels instead and the Roks for the KOH stuff and if we are going to crawl, like the TTC, I will gear down and put the TSL and heavy wheels on.

Yeah I'll probably just run the Axial 2.2s with R35 Ripsaws that I have for the TTC, because I did put weights on them, even if they increase the width.

Still even with that, I think a bit more weight in the chassis could be beneficial; obviously down low.

That was my thought when I started building Buxom Melons, hence my big fat double 3s's.
But now that I've put more weight in the wheels... the overall performance has noticeably increased :mrgreen:
 
How much run time do you think I can get out of this combo?

Or, I could run two of those batteries with my Parallel adapter to net 8000mah but, thats twice as much space.
Or, I have some 3s 4400's.

What do you guys think? Im going to try to make it so I dont have to change packs when im running it.
 
Yea, I dont think running them in paralell is the route I want to go because thats twice as much space and twice as much weight. But, on the other hand.. I just made the switch to lipo coming off of using the Nimh 6cell packs that seem to always lack power and it always feels like im changing batteries. I prefer to run one battery, just trying to find out if one in the area of 4000-4400mah will get me on the trail for a while because if thats only going to last 20minutes, Im going to look into something that will last a while longer.
 
I run the spc 1600mah 20c 11,1v in mine when we do our comps I plug it in and because my body mounts with four screws and is kinda a pain to take on and off I leave it on thru the hole comp and always have plenty of power even at the end for the tank trap my radio beeps alot reminding me its on but pleny of powere for the whole day and you see how long some of our comps last with set uo and waiting for our turn."thumbsup"its small and packs a big punch great battery.Played tody with crawlhog for about tow hours and still had plenty of power when we called it quits.

well, when I built it I was:
1. Never intending on comping.
2. Running a brushless motor.
3. Thinking I'd need lot's of battery life for the full throttle hill climbing of Mt. Trashmore.
4. Wanting the weight and balance of the 2 batteries sitting low.
5. A complete noob. "thumbsup"
