Novak Crawler Review/ Tech thread

i live in australia and to post it to the usa is going to be around 13aus. if i do buy the system and post it to you do you need the motor and esc or just the esc?

Hi Guys,

Benden-Just the ESC would be needed.

Cart - Possibly we can exchange a few emails, and you can simply send me the part from the ESC you need to have updated to save on shipping cost. I didn't realize shipping could be so expensive. Sorry for the confusion sir.

I'll be away but still doing emails all week. Charlie@teamnovak.com

Have you opened it and tried it yet?

Well I got the new system in today and the fricken thing rocks! "thumbsup"

The hold brake is 100%. It’s like having a parking break built in. If you are not on the throttle it will not move.

The drag brakes are just as strong. If you moving along and you let off of the throttle the vehicle will stop immediately.

I tried to get the locked rotor to engage and I could not.

This motor system is definitely comp ready in my opinion (which my not carry much weight as I have not competed).

The part number is the exact same as the older unit so I’m not sure how you would know you were getting the updated one.

If you were on the fence about buying the system I would definitely buy it 100%.

One a side not it did take Novak 2 ½ months to get me a working until. The first one failed due to a broken Mosfet. The second one smoked as soon as I hooked it up. The third one smoked again as soon as I hooked it up. And the fourth one is the working unit I have today. Novak did next day air me two of the units at their cost and 2 day aired another one at their cost. I talked to tech. today before I hooked this one up just to make sure I was doing everything right (cuz I didn’t want to smoke another one) and he told me they had a bad run of about 25 units ( I guess I got 3 of them) and that it was a programming error and it had been corrected.

All that being said I would buy another one in a heartbeat! I love this motor system and a brushed motor cannot hold a match to the power, speed, and control this system can produce.

SWEET! Now go update your sig you friggin lucky punk! "thumbsup"

one thaing i did notice with the updated version is that if i barly give the trigger throttle my rig will act as if i pulled in the clutch. and start to roll so i just have to stay out of that (dead band) dose anyone else have that?

are you sure you have the updated version? every once in awhile my V1 would do that, the littlest bit of throttle and it would shut down and roll, i think its the lrd kicking in.

Yes I did notice that.

But I don't think it will be an issue for me at all.

This is a little different. If your on an incline without any thorttle it is in park. When you go to take off with very very little throttle it will roll back just a little. I don't think it will take much to adjust your driving style to make this a non-issue.

i forgot to update my status here, well Charlie at Novak came through with flying colors"thumbsup" , i'am now the proud owner of a Novak crawler system with the revised software8) , only problem is i won't be able to review until the end of this week:x , but i must say that the people at Novak after a rocky start in my case, are very courteous and they solve my problem in no time at all and at no expense to me:) , they do really stand behind their products 100%"thumbsup"

Your going to love it.

I had mine out twice this weekend and you can park it on a 50 dig. incline and it will just set there. "thumbsup"

I did not try this but I think if you were going full throttle and quickly let off of the throttle it would just flip over from the drag brakes.
