I have both the crawler brushless and a mamba maxx, hyperion set up, but I haven't run them it the same truck. The Novak was in a TXT and the Holmes system is in my clod. I have to say that both have a lot of torque, I have broken axle shafts with both. I was disappointed when I first got the Novak system, but after sending it in and getting it back it was much improved. It has more wheel speed than the hyperion. I will say that both systems are great setups. I have had some issues with the Novak system, and the setup from Holmes Hobbies has only a few packs through it. Either way you are getting a great setup, and both are allot stronger than any lathe I have run.

Edit: I am using the smaller 3013 motor from Holmes Hobbies

Just got my new-and-improved Crawler system, and it's night and day over the OG. They really nailed it the second time around.

It's really kinda cool watching the tires balloon up on your crawler

i dont know, i just got 2 back from getting updated so if i buy another it'll be quite awhile. hopefully by then any crawler system on the shelf will be revisited versions.

I'm running the Novak Crawler system in my PTI crawler, and after getting back the updated version the unit was amazing. During a few test sessions as I worked out some bugs in my wheel base extension the motor always ran cool and when I installed the RC4WD gear reduction, the throttle control was near perfect. The first day I took the truck out on the rocks the motor got extremely hot then started cogging then pretty much stopped all togeather. I never even got into any real tough crawling, just some tire sized rocks on my way to the bigger stuff. I don't thing I even got 5 minutes of run time out of it. I just sent the motor and ESC back to Novak today, and hope it is a warranty job.

I have noticed that if the outside temp is over 68-70 that mine will run hot enough to start shutting itself down. I'm going to order a fan and see if that helps. I also noticed that the more you let the hold brake hold the hotter it will run. I ran mine on Sunday in about 45 deg. weather and did not have an issue, but every time I run in warmer weather the brakes will stop working and I have to unplug and replug the battery to reset.

updated version

I just got my two Novak Crawler Systems Updated. I must say Steve
Wise at Novak handled my issues, and made me a very happy customer.
There was no charge for the updates.
I ran one system in my SW2 and won 1rst place in a PARC Comp. The LR
issue is gone. This system is Comp ready in the updated version. I will
have to change my sig back to Brushless Again!

Thank You NOVAK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so now they have the new sintered rotor crawler system with lipo cutoff. i wonder if we will be able to upgrade from the old to the new. man i really wish i had waited to buy one now.

After the new Crawler, Sintered 18.5T system is released, Novak will have an replacement/upgrade path for those returning current Crawler BL items (such as the SS + style speed control.)

The current Crawler motors (bonded rotors) may be upgraded to the new version by installing the sintered upgrade.

So i can get that sintered rotor on my crawler system to upgrade? i have a revised version crawler system that charly sent me"thumbsup" , i also have an ss5800 system, what would that mean for my ss controller?

E-mail charlie@teamnovak.com with technical questions.

The SS and SS+ controllers work better with motors with the sintered rotors.
