how good is this set-up for crawling? is it true that the "braking" and holding the truck still isnt very good with brushless? do most people use brushed, and do you all see this changing in the future?

I like the Castle stuff better....ALLOT more options. You can run brushed or brushless. You can also hook it to the PC and fine tune nearly any aspects inside the ESC for better performance.

Most comp drivers prefer brushed motors. For smooth throttle response, brushed motors are better....for now.

i'm guessing that the goat set-up can handle 3c lipo w/out a problem? as you can tell, i'm new to lipo as well!

i love mine. the brake holds fine and there is really too much power but i like it that way."thumbsup"

X2, Goat has plenty of power and wheelspeed. Drag brake is adjustable and very strong.

X2 again. Mamba Max and Cobalt 5 turn... creep so slow you can count the spur gear teeth as it spins, hammer on it and make the truck jump 2ft in the air. Tekin FX-R is also a good choice for an ESC, no brushless though (not that that is a big deal)

I can see the search button is going to be your best friend, use it.

Novak does not recommend a 3s lipo, but I have seen and heard of people using it w/o issue. If/when it does release the factory smoke, you may have an issue with warranty if it is used with a 3s.

All things considered, I say go with a Castle Sidewinder or Tekin FX-R with a Cobalt 7 turn motor, with your 3s lipo you will have a nice setup for any driving condition. Ohh yeah, throw on an external Castle BEC as well.
