although i posted this already in the red cruiser post "old reliable", i thought i'd start another thread since this will be a completely new vehicle. here it is-

well, since the old body still has some life left in it, i thought i'd do something a little different with it. time to convert it into a cab and make it into an fj45. this would require some precise measurements, scissors, exacto, super glue and alot of luck! here is what i ended up with. the roof blends flawlessly but i had to overlap the sides for fear of separation due to the inevitable roll overs this will encounter. just one problem, full bed or flat bed? i am thinking full bed because there seems to be bunch of flat beds running around. what do you all think, let me know. thanks for looking.

oh yeah, wheelbase will be around 14". kinda long but the fj45's that i have seen are longer. still will have 2 wheel steer:mrgreen:. bed and chassis will be aluminum.

there are short wheel base fj45's but the problem with them is that the bed sticks out too far and kills the departure angle. as it is, the way i want to do it, my bed will be way shorter than the real long wheel base ones to improve the departure angle. check out www.fj45.com for pics of the real deal.

edit- besides, i like the long wb look better. maybe i can get it down to 13.5" and still look o.k.

I am a "Dean's Cruiser Addiction" supporter. Keep your head up son. It's not so bad being addicted like this.

I vote for the Short Wheelbase version of the Cruiser. You get the pickup bed, but a much better departure angle and they still look cool.

I really like this one because it keeps your "trademark" silver color.

i will consider the shortie but i still like the long wb with a bobbed bed better.

I think the long wb and bobbed bed will look alot better also. A scale rig is more for looks than being the best crawler anyways.

This is going to be an Awesome build! Great work on joining the body together, it came out awesome. I vote for the full bed, It will be something different, although that last pic of the short bed is BADASS. I vote for some G-Hawgs on it too  , I know they suck for crawling but when its sitting around , they will look sweeeeet on there

I say full bed with tube fenders that mimick the front fenders. Kinda like a 1/4 ton military trailer with round tube fenders
