Panther Cougars

Stormin...I pulled out a bead on the Erickson's, too.

I like the tires, but they just don't have the same forward bite that the Claws have, for me at least. I tested back to back, same day, same set up, same weight of wheels and the Cougars had a harder time making some lines. The extra height can be nice, but it can also hurt in some situations.

Has anyone tried running straight Reds/Pinks (non hybrid)?

I noticed after our comp that some of my Cougar tire bead had started to pull out of my MSD Top Guns has anyone else experiance s on any other wheel or is it just my MSD's?

No such problem with my Mayhem Spiders "thumbsup"

I just got back from a crawl and I gave the new Panthers a good testing. I went to spot where I've been runing my Claws for close to a year now so I know the area pretty well. As much as I love the Claws, the Panthers made a lot of lines that the Claws could not - and I'm still running the stock foams both front and rear.

As for sidewall bite - if I ever had any doubts about the Panthers' capabilities, I certainly don't now. The sidewalls grabbed the smooth rocks better than my Claws ever did.

the panther cougars have been pulling out of multiple bead lock rims that i have used them on, its not just the msd's. (they seem to work good on my mayhem spiders though) the problem is panther made them way too thin. the sidewall is also very thing and i know of a couple people that have already teared them.

I will personally buy you a set of Losi Rock Claws if you never post on this topic again.

We get it, you don't like them. Please use something else.

I think most of us would chip in to buy him a Berg to have him never post on RCC ever again...

So, for the rest of the review. I got on some sandstone today. The Panthers and Losis were honestly very equal. Both tires did every line without problem. I couldn't choose between the two.

I kind of wonder what will happen when it gets really hot out. I have my opinion but would hate to say anything without actually testing it. I will keep both tires around ready to go.

Ok Nooby Superchick, ball is in your court.

Here is how it will work.

1. Acknowledge on this thread you will take me up on my offer
2. PM me your addy and let me know your preferred online RCC vendor.
3. I will contact them and order you a set of Losi Rock Claws
4. You refrain from posting positively or negatively, on any thread, about the Cougars.

Deal?

LMFAO:lol:

BT, what was it you did to cause them coming loose? Have a set coming soon to be mounted on my MSD's

I was in a rush and trying, so I put the ring on loosely (too tightly) on the backside and popped it in, done it many times this way. In a hurry 1 of the 4 screws on 2 wheels was too tight and didn't allow the bead to pop in. Tightend it down and never checked until the next comp.

I found in my Mayhems that the Panthers were a bit long, the bead that it. After removing them all to re-fit them right this time. I took scissors and removed a small sliver of the bead.

Thanks Casey, I reset the rock rings I'll give the wheels another chance with this tire. We made lines with the Cougars we never made with Claws but we have very different set ups and that could be the difference.

I have only been using mayhem wheels in the last couple months, and ill tell ya, these tires can suck you into some serious binds and I havent lost a bead yet.

LOL if I had the extra cash right now I would totally buy a case of BADLANDS (He likes the badlands) so he would stop posting.

I am running stock foams, and yeah I was riding the tires edge, but I made that line several times without riding the edge, it was a crazy obsticle.. Did that with a few guys at the latest GTG and they were able to make it too with other tires but I had more sidewall bite. Yeah go figure, the tire with no sidetread had more grip...

hell yeah noob_superMAN will take you up on your offer. I pm'd you the info, and thanks for the tires ill make sure to post up some pics when i receive them"thumbsup"

Cool! now go away. Please don't post in the cougar thread anymore.

I have a set of Cougars, am I allowed to report what I have found?

I think it is more about how you say it and how many times you say it rather than if you say it. I have posted my findings and asked about set up questions to no avail.

Raider and myself had a chance to do some testing this weekend at Rock Island. There are many different types of rock on the Island so hopefully there is something for everyone. These are some of the pics, tried to show some that will be relevant to discussion. If you have any questions I'd be happy to try to answer them.

Side wall bite

Pure Traction

Next two pics: Notice how the tire compresses with traction and then unloads while providing traction up the rock face.

Basketball hoop IS vertical so tilt your head, she held without slip.

Notice the rear tire holding the rock face with its sidewall.

The side wall actually held and lifted the rear!

Turn and go up!!!

ABSOLUTELY! Good, bad or indifferent.... Please, just don't be a dick about it

Nobody wants to hear the same broken record from the same crappy singer. Spice it up a little!

;)

crawlinghulls what kind of foams were you guys running. any weight. looks like they held great. i hope that everyone understands that as you can see you don't need side tread to have side bite. its all about compound and i think panthers got it on the number."thumbsup" and i havent even ran them yet man i can't wait:twisted:

Thanks for you response Geno, I have a set of their wheels to and if I have anymore trouble I will mount my Cougars on them. :D

You bet Patrick I always want to hear what you have to say "thumbsup"

Sorry I haven't tried non-Hybrid memory foam yet but I've been thinking about doing a little laminating experiment and I haven't even tried the stock Panther foam yet. ;-)

maro69camaro, I'm running the Slingshot and Crawlinghulls (I'll let him discuss his setup) is running the tuber. I'm using 6" memory makers for this maiden test with 6oz of weight in front and 3 oz in back. I went with 6" foams to combat the sidewall rollover some of us were discussing. I'm thinking of using a stock foam in the rear just to try it out. The great grip is a double edged sword. It can get you over an object and side hill but get this tire bound and it won't let go. I did loose some steering because fo the increased diameter of the tire. Hope this helps.
