Personal rock courses?

There are still some rocks that are too large for me to get in the trailer that I could bring over, just not sure how I would get them on.

i just went and picked up some rocks the other day for my yard

i guess they can double as a rock course if i line them up

i like the water crossing

Here is my front yard, been working on it for a few years, the rear yard is more of the same. some of the rocks are in the 4' range and over a ton

red sandstone walkways and waterways etc. designed with ascetics and rc crawling in mind

A Crawlers Heaven

Here is our home rock crawling garden. My husband moved every rock by hand. It is becoming an addiction I think ;-). We enjoy this every chance we get. We began with it being primarily for 2.2's but once he got his High Lift, we added a 1.9 course throughout.

My wife was never into RC, until I took here to Nationals, I let here run my rig on Monday in Moab, and she says to me, Ok build me one now. So I'm in the process of building a Scorpion.

Nice courses and yards, guys. I only WISH my wife supported my habits. With my wife, anything that I do that doesn't directly benefit her is a bad thing. Heck, I consider myself dang lucky if I can do ANYTHING I enjoy for more than 20 minutes without her interrupting me and asking me to do something.

And as far as the courses go, those are nice, but here in Nebraska just a simple course could cost Thousands of $$$$. (Around here rocks sell for more per pound than a good Black Angus Steak, and a good steak sells for about $7 a pound, so you do the math.) The guy with the really nice yard, well, around here, that's about a $50,000 yard, and that's if you did it yourself! Hire someone, and it would be over 100 G's! (WELL over!)

Oh, and you can't just go pick up rocks or whatever from out in a pasture or the side of the road. Oh, no. That's HIGHLY illegal. (like JAIL TIME!:roll: For freaking ROCKS!)

I am slowly accumulating busted-up concrete chunks for my own course, (at least THAT I can get for free, or nearly free!) but it'll take some serious terra-forming in my yard to get something cool, since I live on a nice, flat piece of land here. Oh, wait, it's ALL flat... IT'S NEBRASKA! :lol:

In my job once in awhile I get to bring something good home. Today it was a 12 ton load of dirt and ROOOOOOOOOOCKS. Freshly brokin from the big rock we call Vancouver Island. I'm stoked to have a huge supply of rock to use. My mind is going a mile a minute thinking of the cool things to do with them. I have unlimited supply of dirt in the back to make hills and mounds then cover them with rocks (no need to waste a bunch to make 1 big pile) Here are some pics of my pile. Now I just need to get it all across my creek into the proving grounds, wish my back luck. Couldn't resist put my trucks on the pile for the pics. Hey Stef, since your not going to Van Saterday...... want to come help out for abit. ;D

Already have a thread with pics of mine in it, here ya go, it is gonna suck when I move out next year... Guess I'll come back to my parents house to work on my 1:1 truck (if I don't get a garage right away) and play with the R/C....

All of the rocks were taken from a local building project. I spoke to the soon to be home owners and they were thrilled someone wanted to take the rocks for free. I think I made around 50 trips with my little ford ranger. My wife was right it is somewhat addicting. The wife drives a BMV which she loves due to its simplicity. She is learning and definitely understands that it is not what you drive but how you drive. Now if I can only find some more rocks!!!! I have been thinking about having a 1 ton rock (yes a single rock) and bury it so it looks like a natural ledge. I spoke to a stone mason I know he told me figure at least 1500 bucks so I gotta start saving.

I have a crappy waterfall/rock garden, it's impossible to hit with anything because there's sand inbetween the rocks and you can't get traction.
