Pitbull Owners

wow, this is still going on.....its cool everyone is entitled to their opinions.ill stick by mine.

anyone ever watch the show "DOG WHISPER" ? with CEASER MALON (SP?)

Food for thought: In 1970 some friends of mine and I were sitting on the front porch of my fathers country store. The temperature was about 95 and we were just sitting cooling off drinking cokes. One of my friends rides up on his bicycle with his pit bull female following him, she was a great pet didn't bother non of us. I man going to Lexington stops at my dad's store for directions (lost). He was driving a very pretty red corvette. ( We all went to check out the vette). About that time my cat came out to see what was going on. He crawler under the car. My friend who owner the dog said watch this (he told the dog get the cat). Well we all ran to the porch watched that dog chase that cat from fender well to fender well. The cat hiding on top of each tire and the dog tearing off each fender all four. Serious damage!!!! The car owner came out what the hell happened to my car. After explaining what happened, the cops were call. My friends parents had to pay for the damages and nothing was done to the dog, The cat hell he thought it was a game, he had seen the dog many times before. So for dog owners I say watch out what you teach you animals to do.

whatch it all the time! I'm upsessive with dogs, love them to death! if you think pit bulls are mean you can go **** your self and go to hell! pit bulls are natuarly the nice dogs, with any breed of dog you could get a mother or father that has a behavoir problem. This happens with any breed of dog, that behavior then transferes. its really all pretty simple.... to some dumb that pics up a news paper and says omg! a pit bull bit someone those dogs are so bad! How about if you read about a wemon being raped, well, I guess all us mean need to kill our selves. Or a body builder he has pontential and thats all, so I'm thinking all body builds must be put in prison, because they might or might not hurt someone, also goes for gun owners or anyone who has a car that might shoot or run over someone.

can i get this translated to english please?

anyways yea pitts arnt that bad it how the owner cars for em;-)

And there is lots of bad poon tang out there too but who's talkin **** about that? There is good and bad in everything simple as that. Thousands of people are killed in automobiles and we still drive them. A gun owner will stand up for the right to own a gun, and someone will always want to take it away. For all of you drinkin the pitbull Haterade get back on Hillary Clintons blog and talk about whatever you f' ers do when youre not reading Oprahs last book club pick.:flipoff: Oh yeah and here are a couple pics of this Pitbulls roomates. I don't understand why they stick around , cause' who wants to live with a killer ??

Pitbulls were bred to be human friendly BECAUSE the jerks that bred them for fighting needed to be able to break them up without fear of being attacked. It's the idiotz training them to be mean that ruin it for all of us. Kinda like I ride a bike and all the young punks doing stupid stuff on theirs makes me look bad.

This is my baby... everyone that has ever met her loves her to death! Including the woman two doors down with 2 kids under 5. Christine LOVES kids and they love her. She loves riding in our van and has her own seat that I built right behind me. :)

Christine has her own web page HERE with lots of info on it too.

now this is more like it. i know i will get both sides to what people think but the negative was getting out of hand.

I would rather have a pit bull, Rott or any dog, then an idot driving with a cell phone in their ear.

These statistics are as of 12/2006. I am only picking out some samplers to freak some of you out. There is no way to get these to line up so you'll have to do the work yourself. Just look at the percentage of PASSING at the end. Seems some of what many consider "sweet" dogs fail the temperament test more often then the mean ole Pit breed.

Having read this thread in it's entirety, I have decided to add some input.

First let me explain my background. I am an active, breed specific, rescue volunteer. I work with Jack Russell Terriers. I have been bitten in the face, hands and legs working with rescue dogs. I have also worked with Schutzhund Level 3 Shepherds. I have grown up around dogs and I feel I know a good deal of knowledge due to my experiences.

When a person purchases a dog, it is the responsibility of the owner to know exactly what they are getting in the specific breed. It is also the responsibility on the breeder to make wise choices in home selection for their pups. I can guarantee you that anytime there is a behavioral issue with an animal it is due to negligence of the owner. There are circumstances however, which is typically from poor breeding (not the animals fault), when particular animals have irresolvable issues which tend to have violent consequences. When a dog misbehaves, we need to know how to correct the problem before it escalates into a larger one. When a pup is food aggressive, for example, it is imperative that we are not amused by this behavior or startled. A reaction like that places the dog in control and not the owner. This is the root of the problem. Setting bans on specific breeds will only make matters worse.
As the saying goes, "If you outlaw something, then only oulaws will have them" There is a good ammount of truth to this. Those who own and care for these dogs irresponsibly will continue to do so. Why? Because they simply don't care enough to do the right thing. What is the right thing? Know what you're in for when you purchase an animal. If you want something that is good with kids, get a retriever. If you want a dog that you can be active with, get a husky. The list goes on. This is why there are different breeds. To meet the specific needs of the owner. If a Lab isn't "Manly" enough for you, you may be getting a dog for the wrong reason and if you do go with the "tougher" dog, atleast have the common sense to know what you're getting into. The problem is not the dogs it is the owners.

thank you...this has been pretty much the best post.

HEY I HAVE A BULLDOG!... I mean, yeah, basically.

My dogs murder glass sliding doors. thats about all the ambition a bulldog has.

I used to get the bad rap about Dobermans. My first dog was a Dobie. He was just a big sissy though. He was about 75 lbs and didn't have an ounce of fight in him. Very high strung dog though, as are other terriers.

I was chewed up pretty well by a boxer as a child. They're still my favorite dogs though. Typically the owner loves his or her pet, and with ANY dog, there is the element of the animal. ALL dogs, no matter how much you love them can have the capacity to hurt you to varying extent. Certain breeds more so than others.

There's a few breeds that animal control in Delaware will destroy within a five day period, Chows, Rotties, and Pit Bulls. Not all are bad dogs, but they carry a vicious reputation.

My half Chow, half Golden was one such rescue.
