I'm upsessive with dogs, love them to death! if you think pit bulls are mean you can go **** your self and go to hell! pit bulls are natuarly the nice dogs, with any breed of dog you could get a mother or father that has a behavoir problem. This happens with any breed of dog, that behavior then transferes. its really all pretty simple.... to some dumb that pics up a news paper and says omg! a pit bull bit someone those dogs are so bad! How about if you read about a wemon being raped, well, I guess all us mean need to kill our selves. Or a body builder he has pontential and thats all, so I'm thinking all body builds must be put in prison, because they might or might not hurt someone, also goes for gun owners or anyone who has a car that might shoot or run over someone.

Just look at the percentage of PASSING at the end. Seems some of what many consider "sweet" dogs fail the temperament test more often then the mean ole Pit breed.

First let me explain my background. I am an active, breed specific, rescue volunteer. I work with Jack Russell Terriers. I have been bitten in the face, hands and legs working with rescue dogs. I have also worked with Schutzhund Level 3 Shepherds. I have grown up around dogs and I feel I know a good deal of knowledge due to my experiences.
When a person purchases a dog, it is the responsibility of the owner to know exactly what they are getting in the specific breed. It is also the responsibility on the breeder to make wise choices in home selection for their pups. I can guarantee you that anytime there is a behavioral issue with an animal it is due to negligence of the owner. There are circumstances however, which is typically from poor breeding (not the animals fault), when particular animals have irresolvable issues which tend to have violent consequences. When a dog misbehaves, we need to know how to correct the problem before it escalates into a larger one. When a pup is food aggressive, for example, it is imperative that we are not amused by this behavior or startled. A reaction like that places the dog in control and not the owner. This is the root of the problem. Setting bans on specific breeds will only make matters worse.
As the saying goes, "If you outlaw something, then only oulaws will have them" There is a good ammount of truth to this. Those who own and care for these dogs irresponsibly will continue to do so. Why? Because they simply don't care enough to do the right thing. What is the right thing? Know what you're in for when you purchase an animal. If you want something that is good with kids, get a retriever. If you want a dog that you can be active with, get a husky. The list goes on. This is why there are different breeds. To meet the specific needs of the owner. If a Lab isn't "Manly" enough for you, you may be getting a dog for the wrong reason and if you do go with the "tougher" dog, atleast have the common sense to know what you're getting into. The problem is not the dogs it is the owners.
