With the Losi, running hot and having to find the sweet spot for a motor/esc combo does not bother me. The fact that people were breaking CVD's on their very first run however does. And to make things even worse, Losi had fixed the problem already and had replacement parts on the way. They new about the problem, yet they still shipped the kits out. This is labeled as a comp ready truck, meaning it shouldn't need to be fixed out of the box in order to finish a couple courses.

The losi Mini rock crawler has its share of problems with all the weak plastic parts and crappy stock tires. But it is not labeled as a comp ready truck, its obvious that it is more of a toy in stock form. I love the little trucks and have 3 of them right now.

The Axial kit held its ground pretty well when it first came out. The big flaws in my book were the stock tires, small beadlock screws, large body, and long shocks. The stock lockers were not the best either, but they lasted 6 comps or so for me. By the time I did strip one, the market had some solid upgrade options to pick from.

I also have seen the Venom crawlers at our local comps, and they have all been to long out of the box. The info on whats legal is easy to find, these companys should be able to get their kit trucks to fix the rules at least.

The Losi's cvd problems will all soon be in the past, and we will move on. But regardless it has really hurt the trucks reputation already.

thats not completly true, every single vehicle has an issue nothin is perfect how do u think stuff gets fiixed, its all about starting somewhere and making it better, im sure losi has already learned something just by seeing waht has happend with it and they are making it better, it takes time to produce something people will be happy with.

i got skipped.....

"thumbsup"
im a bonafied arrogant newb dipshit.

i bought an RTR. but only after like 3 weeks putzing around the forums.

(got introduced to the search function right quick"thumbsup") and decided that even though i was gonna scrap most of it, i wanted the oppertunity to see what, and how each lil thing i upgraded changed the truck.

i like learning, but thats just me.

its like i said, the difference between an AX10 kit and RTR is approx $40.

that $40 covers a tx,rx,esc and servo.

the fact that platform even exists, i feel like i owe that privialedge to all you old dudes.

all your wrenchin and fabbin has allowed me to benefit from your successes.

the coolest part of this hobby for me is that as a jackass newb, people like Jay from losi, Bender and sparky from axial, tim, cato, tom, turtle, john, mica, tony 1 & 2, R2J, MThead,

and every single other like experienced individuals are by far the best part of the hobby.

i do stupid shit, and ask retarded questions. but yet everyone still wants to help me.

i break a part, guess what, someone hooked me with their spare. i cant figure out why my truck did something, well cato fixed it. i cant pull a certain line. some one shows me how.

its all about respect man. i owe what i have to the efforts of those before me.

so sure as shit, no way in fawking hell do i feel i could tell anyone the way it really is.

i aint gonna make a chassis and try and sell it as the new bomb shit, when actually i have no idea what im doing.

im not gonna bash a company because my cheap ass RTR things broke.
(who really wants that crap anyways. breaking is and excuse for upgrading)

the dudes who have been hard core in this hobby since 99, have made it to what it is today.

SOOOOOOOOOOO

as an empty headed newb, in reply to kami's original post;

I SINCERLY THANK YOU ALL.

THANK YOU FOR MAKING THE HOBBY WHAT IT IS.

THANK YOU FOR HELPING ME. (and continuing to do so in the future, cato, jay, sparky)

THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOU SUCCESS AND FAILURES.

THANK YOU FOR CREATING A GREAT COMMUNITY

THANKS FOR RCC

THANKS FOR NOT TELLING ME TO MY FACE WHAT A DOLT I AM"thumbsup"

Just a few more examples and then I am going to bed.....

You buy a Revo. You take said Revo out to play for the first time. Two different scenarios can occur.

1. You take the aforementioned Revo out and it doesn't start. Turns out you have a bad glow plug. Thats Traxxass' fault, by all means call and get a new one. Still no need to grip and piss and moan, no one can catch everything.

or...

2. You take said Revo and fire it up. WHEEE!!! What fun you have. Then you hit a mailbox at 50 mph and the whole left side of the truck looses its a arms. Well, this is a brand new truck....it should have lasted more than 5 minutes.....

Jeff, good thing you don't work in a hobby store. You'd probably go postal in a few days.

If you only knew how many scenario #2's occur and how many are "my" fault.

Yep i miss the weeks of research, 1000 dollars invested, countless hours of building, then going out and having it perform like sh!t.
It used to be... You go out crawl, your rig doesn't act like you want it to, so you go home, research, spend hour after hour through out the night researching, drawing, ordering parts, cutting, fitting, and still not end up where you want, so you do it over and over.

I'm glad scale stuff is still somewhat like this.

Will there ever be a RTR SCX10?
Just wondering if there will ever be a rtr scx10?

Bah, I wish the SCX10 was a RTR!

:ror:

I agree...RTR, winch, waterproof. Just drop in your RX and go.
I understand the concerns here I some good points have been made.
Here is my humble opinion. I understand some problems get past inspection or quality control. Every product on the planet has a certain failure rate no matter what it is. BUT, with todays technology you would think that a truck wouldn't be released with weak CVD's to use the losi as an example. I havn't even put mine together yet and now I'm not sure I'm going to. I applaud Losi for making things right (I have new cvd's on the way) but the left front cvd in my losi broke before I even built it. I put my steering servo and dig servo in place, then grabbed the left front tire to spin it around on my bench so I could work on the other side and SNAP...broken left front cvd. I didn't even put much of a load on it, hell I think I only had 3 fingers on the tire when it broke. I don't care who you are, or what you manufacture that is a joke.
Anyway, I have alot of respect for the guys that can build there stuff from scratch because it usually comes out looking really cool. But calling the newer generation "whiny" isn't right. Just be happy that your hobby is expanding instead of shrinking. This hobby to me is all about driving time...I don't enjoy working on my crap...and I don't have the patience to build from scratch. If it weren't for the RTR's and the ARTR's I wouldn't give rock crawling the time of day. Cut me down for that if you like, but this hobby wouldn't be even close to what it is if not for the recent jump in RTR/ARTR trucks. Again, much props to the people that build from scratch but its not for me thats for sure. I want to pull something out of the box...plug in a battery and go play. If it breaks right away I'm probably going to toss it in the garbage and move on to something else. I expect stuff to work out of the box....not break and need re-designed before its usable, that is crap.

Let those that cry and wine go back to buying tlt, txt or clods and taking just the axles and some of the small hardware and try making it work rather then just going to the hobby store and getting something in a box and plugging it in.

I have put together some stuff myself. Hours of sitting at the bench, grinding, drilling, brazing etc.

I have also done the rtr route ala the MRC. Been looking at some of the artr and other rtr stuff also. I won't piss and moan if they don't kill everything else on the rocks or if something breaks.

I personally love fabbing stuff with nothing but some stock and a few tools etc. Gives me a sense of acomplishment.

OK I only made it through about 4 pages of these post but have to put my 2 cents in now.

I am going to have to disagree with a lot of this Kamikaze, sorry.

I am a fan of the existence of the RTR's personally. I don't buy them but I actually like the people that it brings in. Granted some of them are super annoying and I don't always find myself answering their questions on the boards. What I like is that out of the say 10,000 people it brings in, 100 of them may turn out to be people who are crazy talented drivers/builders. I have no problem ignoring people if I want.

All those "annoying" people do is add money to the pot. When the pot is big enough, Company B says "lets makes some crawler stuff". Then we get more sweet parts.

I do get what you mean on the breaking parts and bitching about it though. The only thing you need to remember in you analogys is "intended use".

Yep, and can you blame the noobs about complaining when most the "OG's" on the board are pimping an axial RTC or a Losi CC, and when these newbs who only know what they have been told, buy what they have been told to buy and find some MAJOR issues right out of the box, they definately have the right to bitch. This is a money game, and all of the hype and marketing is insane, I can't blame most of these newbs. If I had just heard about RC Comp Crawling and came to this sight you better believe I would have fallen into all the hype and marketing that goes on here. I mean this whole website is stuffed with advertisments for these products that have some bold claims.:|
