OK... So far there has been a lot of arguing and bitching without anyone posting any actual performance numbers. So here ya go, taken from the actual company websites.

5.9-Liter HO Cummins Turbo Diesel Engine
The Dodge Ram Heavy Duty Cummins Turbo is an inline 6 cylinder diesel engine that produces 610 pounds-feet of torque at 1,600 RPM and 325 horsepower at 2,900 RPM from 5.9 liters of displacement. With Common-Rail Direct Injection, this is one quiet diesel engine.
As for actual real world performance, my truck out tows yours, blah blah. What everyone here is failing to take into account here is gearing. Comparing a truck with 4.10 gears to one with 3.73, or even 3.56s, well the towing performance will be no where close.
And as stated previously, the current generation Duramax kicks *** right now. Of course who knows who will be king next year. All Ford or Dodge has to do is crank up the boost a little and all will be even again.
I think I read this in another thread somewhere and I'd have to agree with this. To get the best truck, you need the interior of a Chev, the chassis, body, axles, and drive train of a Ford, and then the cummins power plant.
All that being said, I drive an old 6.5 TD Chev with 4.10 gears and a 5 speed. I do love the old beast.
