cummings hands down. my uncle owns a 7.3 and has to constently do stuff to it to keep it runnin good. on the other hand our cummings is older then there's but we have never had engine issues

my vote

I personally think that both the cummins and the duramax are a pretty good tie.

About a two years ago my father bought a 98 dodge cummins 12 valve and loved every minute of the 22 mpg and the power. Sucks we had to sell that thing after only having it for about nine months cause I started growing (6 feet doesn't fit well in an extended cab).
Then he bought a 05 duramax dually and we've had it ever since. That thing has so much torque its not funny. Once we move to Alabama I think he's gonna put the Edge tuner kit in there with a 5 inch exhaust.

I think the perfect truck would be a cummins backed up to the Allison tranny.

We had a car dealership along with a hotshot car haulign company. We ran 2 53ft wdge trailers around the country hauling cars for dealerships and people that bought them off of Ebay. We traveled in every state inbetween the two main mountain ranges from North Dakota to Texas and Ohio to Colorado. We have had 2 Duramaxes, 2 for 7.3 PSDs and a few Dodges with either 12Vs or 24Vs along with our last truck which was a Freightliner FL70 with a 5.9 Cummins 12V in it. For pulling power, fuel economy, reliability it goes to Cummins hands down.

I spent two years over the road in the frieghtliner pulling cars etc everywere and I would nothave done it with anything but the 5.9 cummins.

Ford power stroke!!! My brother has one and it is the ****! Although you guys talk about how they suck did they take care of them, of course something will be a peice of **** if you don't take care of it.

Ford has to be the biggest joke to the heavy duty pickup market. The PSD is one of the biggest POS engines available. The newer 6.0 PSD can't even hold its headgaskets if you push power much past stock. Their transmissions are a joke also. But this is good for the aftermarket trans builders as it keeps them in the money.

Sure International builds the motors but they could not build a decent motor in the first place. Isuzu might build the Duramax but it is not some of their best work. Want a true engine then go with Cat but Cummins follows close behind with somewere between Mercedes and Volvo.

cat all the way[/quote]

Oh to dream of a Twin Turbo 600+ hp Cat backed by an outlaw 18 with twin 10 inch straights lighting up the sky at night.

But a nice Cummins N14 redtop dialed in is not a bad choice either.

But right now I could live with either a Freightshacker FL 70-106 with a Cummins 8.3,L10 or M11 backed with a 9 or 10 with a 60+ inch walk in bunk and a 53' wedge car trailer.

Or even a KW T300 or a 330 Pete with the same specs as above. .
