Project: Chevy SS (trailered rig)

You got any updated pics since you did that small mod to the body that accommodates the interior? I have the same body and was planning on using a t-case and a GRU or planetary style transmission to get some of the weight up front and keep the body low.

There used to be a lot of these builds on here, and with some good searching you can find some great info. Nice job on the drop bed too BTW.

I plan on running 1.9s on droop, if possible, to help keep it low and looking mean. I have some build pics up soon enough.

Sounds like you have the right idea I was originally thinking of doing a more capable trail truck like what you are talking about but decided to run with the crowd in my area and these are the types of trucks they run. LMK when you get your thread started I would like to see how it turns out going the other direction.

Yeah. I get home in a few more months, and should be ready to start on the build then. All I need is to figure out which tranny and t-case to run. I would love to save the stock Axial tranny, as I know its strong, but it may be reserved for another project, my 1:6 Willys.

Body Off

Body off pics so you can somewhat see the similarity of my link setup and color scheme compared to the 1:1 Fords

Picture time

Here's some pics of the finished product hope you like 8)

That much of the frame doesn't always show the body was trying to fly off  Guess I need some industrial strength velcro up front

A little about the interior it has two soda cans in the console air freshener on the rear view RC magazine in the passenger seat and a couple scale goodies in the bed.

These were the only pics i have on hand I will try and get some more close ups later.

And yes I know the trailer is a little too wide to be scale but I wanted it to be dual purpose for my Slash as well

Didn't someone mention that these were 54's  thats a little bit different

I fixing to mount that body on my rig and i would love to see the mounting post/velcro thingy you made thanks

Check out the 1st page basically I just took the stock body posts and chopped the top off so i would have a flat mounting surface. Then took a piece of styrene and glued to the top of the two posts. For the body part of it took another piece of styrene and screwed it to an existing screw hole that holds the interior in place. slap some double sided tape under the velcro and stick the velcro to the styrene.

where did you get the dei body i've looked all over for one or one kinda like that

Picked it up at my local FRED's but haven't seen one there since i got the body a while ago.

Usually I'm not a fan of the taller rigs, but your's came out really nice. Good work

Thanks "thumbsup"

Nice rig. I like the body too! (I have the same one) how'd you cut the tonneau cover off? I'd love to add a dropped bed to my Chevy...but i don't wanna mess up the body......and I'd liek to have the option of having it be on or off...

and the Hand Bros kit is awesome...I installed it on my Chevy and it improved looks and steering 10 fold

I've also relocated the electronics box to the rear for the gas tank look....I've also made a custom polycarbonate battery tray that I drilled holes in and secured to the front of the frame with small zip ties beside the servo ...

check out my build..it's titled "lone Fox" i have to update it though Lol.

Actually I just checked out your thread yesterday looks good. To remove the tonneau cover i used a dremel tool and cut it out but if you wanted to keep it as an option to take on and off I would use an exacto knife or you could always make a new tonneau cover later with a piece of styrene
