Project: Chevy SS (trailered rig)

Hey I ran D44's on my scout with 4.88 gears and lockers. Had 39 x 18.5 mickys on it and the only problem i had was 2 outer bearings.:flipoff:

Ha! I ran a Dana 44 too! For almost 2 years. It was all chromoly, I was running 42'' IROKS, with a LT-1. It didnt like the 350 Horse's and the 42's. Stripped the ring and pinion once, and broke an axle once. Now its got a Dana 60.

Question and answer.

Question, where are you guys getting the Hand Bros kit for the SCX10? Mine's not a honcho, its the original RTR with the defender body on it, and I have been trying to keep my eyes open.

Answer, to the cutting question. There was a thread a while back on here, about cutting hard plastics and what works the best. Oddly enough, the answer was thread. Take some painters tape and tape down the rig to a solid surface. Then tape off the line that you want to cut. Take some plain old sewing thread and work it back and forth across the line. It will start to cut into the plastic, leave a very fine cut, and whats left is reusable.

Here is that juicy bit of advice too.

Check out the vendor's section on here. The RTR SCX10 frame's should be the same as the honcho and the O.G. kit

Agreed Love that tip thanks FireWire79 for pointing that out

Some pics from the last gtg I changed out the rox lok's to swamp dawgs to try them out for a little while. Rok lox's are definitely a better tire but they are huge for this body and get hung up alot. The Swamp dawgs definitely stir up some $h!t though. 8)

lol, is that a D44 in the front of that F350? That'll last for sure...(if it actually goes through stuff tougher than a puddle).

Hey I ran 39" x 18.5 mickeys on my scout II with D44's front and rear with a 392ci and a heavy right foot in the pismo dunes for years. Never broke more than a few outer bearings.

its actually a Dana 50 they are the exact same as a Ball joint 60 except the ring and pinion is closer to a 44 and the inner shafts taper to 30 spline at the carrier. looks exactly like a dana 60. they are found in super duty f-250's and Excursions. the rear axle is a sterling 10.5.

most likely if you run 30 spline (ie toyota, 44, 50) axles you are gunna run into problems with anything bigger than a 37, mostly because of the r&p.

CRAWL UGLY great build man. truck looks super cool.

did you try removing the window signature?

and if you want to remove that intimidator license plate..poke a screwdriver through the right side of trhe sticker there's a screw behind it.

Hey thanks for the tip ill have to try that and no i havent done anything with that stuff this month is crazy busy with b-days and other family stuff

It is an awesome mud truck man. Love how you built it big! Refreshing to see a big show truck get nasty!

hey man i have an older ford that is nicer than that truck and i tear it up ( but im a redneck and dont believe in a show trucks)

Me either but I hate Mud, at least in my 1:1 rig anyways. I will give the old fords one thing, those things are SOLID! I hit mine with tool several times and never even nicked the paint! I also vowed never to own a 302 after that stupid thing.
