Questions for Gun Control Advocates

Guns don't commit shootings, people do

Sent from my XT1042 using Tapatalk

True, a person does pull the trigger. However, the gun does in fact do the killing; the only purpose a gun ultimately has is to kill something(s).

The government needs to do a better job making sure that the killing machines are in the hands of competent, stable people, not just take guns away or impose sweeping, general regulations.

Or we could just do away with all of the incompetent and unstable people...since after all, guns aren't incompetent or unstable, people are.

Okay, ignoring the obvious 'Anti-Obama' sentiments, and the 'anti-conservative' sentiments...

There are a few big things that need to be addressed.

1) Mentally ill people are ****ed by our society, government, and especially the conservatives. Mental illness contributes to most mass shootings. We can do things about mental illness, but often, the resources are not available because stupid people don't care about anything but themselves.

2) Nobody should be allowed to own a weapon without training on safety. I could go down and buy a shotgun without any knowledge on how it works, what it does, how to use it, or how to store it. Fixing this would solve a lot of accidental shootings. Or is it responsible to give a 3 year old a fully loaded assault rifle without supervision? Think that's stupid? Well, it's happened. This will never change, again because of stupid people whining about 'their rights'.

3) Weapons of Mass Destruction shouldn't be legal without a license. A 24,000 lb truck can kill dozens of people if operated improperly, which is why it takes a lot of training, experience, and a special license to get behind the wheel. The same should be said about 'WMD'. This is referring to stuff like multi-barrel gatling guns and large caliber machine guns. However, an assault rifle has the same potential. Make licensing easy, but make it a felony to own one without the license. Your license should be revoked permanently if a weapon you own is used illegally with your knowledge, or due to negligence.

4) People like their guns, and as of right now, gun ownership is a right, not a privilege, and people have the stance of 'pry it from my cold, dead hands'. This means that as time goes on, more and more people, many of them not gun owners, will be murdered by mentally ill people, or terrorists. In the end, you cannot blame a person for having a mental illness when our society refuses to acknowledge the fact that there is a problem, and actively push towards 'status quo' of doing 'not a ****ing thing' about it. So, everyone is responsible for these attacks, because nobody wants to do anything about it. As for terrorists, I think we should just ****ing nuke ISIS and get it the **** overwith. They're terrorists, show them what terror really is.

Wow, talk about living in a vacuum.

Chicago 2015 to date:

Number 2 in the Nation behind only gun control la'la' LA.

Over 400 people shot and killed just this year.
Over 2350 people shot and wounded this year.
Over 460 Homicides this year.

Other than that, Chicago is a great example of gun control.

bingo^

Obama will handle this issue in his 3rd term.

i'm not much for crazy theories but I can see how he would try and drive this country into the pooper and declare marshal law

On another note my rifle has been in this corner for a month and hasn't hurt anything but a doe about a week ago.

And my hand gun i set on the table when I got home and it hasn't hurt anyone. And the only reason it ever will if someone comes through my front door in the middle of the night

You lost me immediately on point #1. Conservatives are ****ing mentally ill people?

As far as point #4...I can tell you got some of that Ghost Train Haze #1. That stuff will make you forget your name.

So much for "setting aside" the anti Conservative sentiments.

I'm all for training. Do so regularly. As for "stupid" people whining about their rights, what exactly are you doing right now but exercising your right to your opinion?

Odd how your rights are to be respected and our rights are somehow of less importance because you don't value them.

Narcissistic much?

You are aware that since the NFA of 1934 and the Gun Control Act of 1968, a citizen must fill out a Form 4 with the ATF, provide finger prints, pay a $200.00 tax (taxing a Constitutional right none the less) for every transferable weapon you wish to possess, wait months to perhaps a year for the ATF to complete their back ground check, and then hope you get a local law enforcement official that will sign off on the transfer or you can hire an attorney to form a trust?

It's so simple. I'm sure all criminals follow this procedure to the tee.

This doesn't include the metric ton of money required to actually purchase a Gatlin, or machine gun as there is a finite number of these arms still in existence since 1986 gun legislation banned the production of new full auto weapons for sale to private citizens.

And for the record, a machine gun is an assault rifle as it is a fully automatic weapon.

A semi automatic rifle is not an assault rifle nor is it an assault weapon.

Calling a semi auto an "assault weapon" is just Liberal anti gun ignorance.

As of right now?

The Second Amendment and the Right to Bear Arms has nothing to do with our Nations failure to address the mental health issues we are facing.

That is a failure of government and those with influence on elected officials who are tasked with correcting the issue.

Any and all deaths caused by those who experience mental health issues fall directly at their feet.

Then, you must be aware that you don't have to do that at any of the dozen or so gun shows occurring daily?

Have you actually ever attended a gun show?:ror:

ALL firearm sales at ALL gun shows from a dealer regardless of if its at a gun show or retail location require you to pass an ATF 4473 back ground check.

So what exactly are you saying?

I can walk into a gun show and purchase a machine gun?

If that the case, you should educate yourself and stop listening to the media talking points.

There is no such thing as the "Gun show loophole".

I think everyone should read "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich", there is a lot to be learned from our recent history for precisely why our founding fathers realized the importance of the 2nd amendment. My grandfather took a couple bullets because the German people had no way to defend themselves from the ideas of one crazy man. To think this could never happen to us is simply naive.

In the US, you can compare violent crime statistics and see the the direct correlation with the states that have the strictest gun laws. Some people like to feed on emotions rather than facts, to each his own I guess.

If that the case, you're to stupid to reproduce and should be sterilized for the betterment of the species.

Really? ALL guns from gun shows? Fact, no emotion here.

i aint that bright... but imo the people saying obama is like hitler are wrong, its gonna be the backlash from the types of people like obama or hillary that will create a guy like hitler.

Yes, all firearm purchases made from firearm dealers require you to pass a ATF 4473 back ground check.

Assuming that you have actually been to a gun show, which I admit that I have not, how many guns are sold by dealers versus Joe Public?

Any gun NOT sold by a dealer does not have to have an ATF form.

For the sake of argument:) are there no private sellers at gun shows? and if so what are the private sellers legal obligation?

I agree. Hitler came from the very, very far right, something that we don't quite have yet but are approaching here in the US.

A vast majority of sales are from dealers.

As I am not a dealer, if I had to guesstimate the percentage of sales, I would say 99% of sales are from dealers.

The only firearm you can purchase without a 4473 is C&R (curio & relics, firearms over 50 years old with historic value and not on the NFA list) and only if you hold a C&R license.

Only other type of sales are private sales which do not require a 4473 or a gun show for that matter.

All right, fair enough.
