the plan.
rc4wd TRAILBUSTER tires on 1.7 brat wheels:

bit of progress, if you can call it that. made a second chassis. better, but not good. will suffice.

plan to install the 380 mrc motor with a 10:1 reduction (when I can afford it) up front too. hoping to swap the axial tcase for a proper one to fit under the interior better. can't continue until I get some M2 hardware...this stuff is TINY, lol.

with the 1.5 tires it gets 2-5/8" clear at the body. a bit more at the chassis rails.:razz:

slow progress, but alright given all the things I'm working on, lol.

front shock mounts made/mounted. made the lower bracket from sheet metal. brazed a hilux upper mount to the chassis.

will spend a little time brazing stuff up this weekend hopefully for the JK and the rear shock mount for this.

its a roller...still needs tons of tweaking and lots of the screws/nuts are temps but she's on her own feet...

used the hilift shock towers on the back. will likely tie the tops together with some brake line to sturdy it up.

motor is mocked up. need to make a mount for motor/trans unit. was going to buy a 10:1 reduction but realized I could fit the stock trans under the hood so there it will go. servo also needs mounting plate but I want to make a servo plate that extends forward to mount the winch and support the bumper (which I want to mount on the chassis to protect the styrene work I did up front.

massive amounts of axle rotation on articulation at the back...not sure why. I'll have to redo the upper links as all the uppers are connected to the same spot as the lowers on the chassis. Khan runs the rears on his this way without issue so I'll have to give it some thought...

with the 1.7 brat wheels I will use (same as these) the track width is out to the body line. I like that better.

also. the trial buster tires I will reduce to 1.7 are going to be 3/8" shorter than those pictured (about that anyway) but should be about that narrow.

The shock towers on the rear are interfering a bit with the interior so the rear is sitting higher than it should be. I'll trim the towers later...

I cut and brazed up a transmission mount and a servo/winch mount before running out of MAPP gas, lol...

(these are the yokes I'm going to try to heat the set screw loose on)

I decided to run the stock trans with the motor instead of a gru.

winch mouinting area needs to be trimmed tighter to the winch itself. It was important to me the winch be mounted directly to the chassis.

Thanks. Got your transfer case installed finally.

The more I think about it the more I think the trail busters will look okay just reduced to 1.7. The brat wheels will help get the track width a bit better too. You guys see I made a video on how to make the brats for 12mm hexes?

this is the overall layout. Got the stock yokes free finally (had to cut them all off). New Villian yokes to mate the traxxas half shafts to the losi output shafts.
Got the motor remounted. Mounted the esc to the servo, between servo and motor. Mounted rx on side of servo/esc. Its all a nice tidy package up front. The battery will go in a gas tank I will make at the back. Need to extend the battery to esc connection.

transfer case ended up a bit crooked and the rear driveshaft is really short. The transfer case is where it is, a bit farther back than I'd like, to fit inside the seat backs of the interior. I will probably make a new skid that crosses on top of the C channels and mount the transfer case from underneath. It will hang down just a bit below the C channels like that but I think will look more realistic. Then I can also move it forward a bit and still clear the interior.

Pablo, this Classic is coming out really good. Nice work. And the MRC axles hold up pretty good on my rig so far. But yours looks a bit heavy so you may end up putting in the metal lockers.

A company by the name Frewer makes them in New Zealand. About USD$40.

this is final ride height and wheel width. tape is holding the lower sills inward where they should be. I'll mount the body along the bottom edge to hold its shape.

rear articulation limited by interior rear seats. tire is hitting it in picture.

got some really thick styrene and started a bumper. Paper mock up in photo as well.

glued the lower half

cut the winch slot out

initial rough shaping

2 hours later

still lots (LOTS) of final shaping and finishing...I'm starting to prefer a hidden winch and a separate fairlead...I'm considering changing it now, lol.
