rat rod..
A rat rod is a style of hot rod or custom car that, in most cases, imitates (or exaggerates) the early hot rods of the 40s, 50s, and early 60s. It is not to be confused with the somewhat closely related "traditional" hot rod, which is an accurate re-creation or period-correct restoration of a hot rod from the same era.

Most rat rods appear "unfinished", whether they actually are or not, with just the bare essentials to be driven.

No the things in this thread are crap, built by lazy people who have no ability to finsh anything nice. Makeing up a term, "rat rod" doesn't mean it's "cool". I just started learning how to weld and make things a couple months ago and if I can see they are poorly built, any one should be able to see it. Set your standards high and try to acheive them, don't lower yourself to some trend.

Randy E. Design. Great fabricator

And as for unfinished laziness.
They only look unfinished on the outside. If you are only learning to fab then you would be shocked and awed at what you would see in the frames and links that go under these. You should also know that like a weld, its what is under the surface that counts; not how it looks on the top.
