Well I ended up purchasing a RC4WD Gelande D90. I have always been a fan of these. I went overboard on the accessories and upgrades that should be arriving in the next week or so. Started to research about upgrading the esc. Love the detailing of the hard body.

Congrats! To be honest, I would leave the ESC alone. There is just too much slop in the drive train for it to really benefit from a smoother ESC. I put a castle mamba micro X in mine and it helped. But mine rolls about 1" of drive train slop so its not really giving me more control per say.

I did however slap a long can 050 motor in mine with great results. You flip the motor mount that comes on your 030 motor and you can easily add a 050 motor. The 050 motor will most likely come with a 12T pinion. Which works fine, but might be a smig too fast. So I took the pinion off the RC4WD 030 motor (I think its a 10T or 11T) and put it on the 050 long can motor.

You will have to drill a hole into the tranny cover so the 050 motor shaft can clear it. But this is a very easy mod you can do for more power and torque if you choose. Id guess its about 20-30% more power if you want that.

Heres my old thread about doing that mod if you are interested.

Thanks BIGWORM. I will check out your post. I did a bit of work on mine last evening. Really liking the quality of this little rig.

I love these rigs. I always want one but I get occupied with something else. I just finished up my SCX24 deadbolt and I' am enjoying that ATM. But, these look so awesome. Are there extra body sets you can throw on these?

Great question and all I know at this point is that RC4WD sells the D90 and Jeep bodies as spares. Not aware if there is any aftermarket bodies.

A few upgrades the last couple of days as they come in. Wheel spacers, sliders, roof rack and our team driver Hoss. He is from the Outback.
