Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!!!
:ror:
alright uou called me back out.
point taken on the muslims stamp,
my problem is people are ok with this yet would have a problem with other things. [next] you said you would be ok with it. but most wouldnt.
I fly my flag and I'm a racist.
others fly theirs and they are??? whatever doesnt matter.
but pick on a muslim and whatch out.
just pisses me off.
but on propaganda.
we all know that SPIN is put on things
spin=propaganda
there is less propaganda here than other countries.
cuz we have freedom of press to speak out against false claims by the gov.
and in this country where each has free speach.
those in opposition of ANYTHING are not silenced.
larg # of stories are saying that we killed a family not a militant group.
there are rep. on the ground. they have satalite phones.
the stoies are reported.
sorry but the big ol U.S.A. isnt the evil impire just cuz
we are predominatly christian.
we are the greatest country in the world.
no where else is so much individual freedom possible.
but the taxes suck
I'm out of this one.
you wont change my way of thinking,
you are strong in yours,
why continue?
I would have a problem with a Muslim stamp if it said "Death to the infidels!". But as we've established, it doesn't even come close to that, so its fine. This is America, made up of many cultures and beliefs, and we tend to celebrate them all in one way or another. Unless one gets uppity we tend to at least try to play nice whether we want to or not.
Flying a flag doesn't make anyone a racist, unless you fly it because you are racist. We get touchy when Muslims are the topic because its like playing with fire. If radical Islam was some obscure group with no power and no real following, nobody would really care what was said. But they do on both counts, so if we are to have any kind of peace or reconciliation with them we need to be a bit more careful with our actions.
I will agree that we do have a bit less spin on our news (in a way) than other less advanced cultures because today we have more access to that news through different channels. However, there is still the Smith-Mundt act, which states that information intended for foreign audiences shall not be accessable to the domestic public...i.e. the American citizen. Kinda makes you wonder why we can't know what they're telling them.

Our news broadcasts, while they may not outright lie to us, are perfectly capable of leaving out information so that they can shine the light whereever they want. But lies are still possible.
There was one incident that really lit the fire for the Veitnam war, and that was the Tonkin Gulf. It was reported that the USS Maddox and USS Turner Joy had been attacked by the Veitnamese, allowing Pres Johnson to legitamatly open a great big can of whoop-ass. We all know what went down from there, right? Only problem is, that report was false. There was no attack, and it wasn't untill 2005 that the truth was revealed to the public, even though Washington knew it was within hours of the initial report. In fact, I know (quite well) of a witness to the Maddox coming into port in near perfect condition after it was supposedly heavily damaged from the alleged attack.

The US isn't an evil empire, but alot of people see it that way. However, that feeling is usually reserved for our country's government, to a much lesser degree its military, but or the most part not its people. That is not so shocking or unusual, as you can find the same opinions within our borders.
Just so we're clear, I'm not trying to change your way of thinking. I have no ill will towards you for your opinions. There isn't a single word I have typed in this thread out of anger or disgust except maybe my initial reply to the original post. I felt I had the opportunity to enlighten a few people and if I succeeded, then yay me. If not, oh well, I tried.
The way I se it the good guys are the ones that only fight when they are provoaked. We as well as the other countries that are involved in this war are the ones being attacked first. They " terrorists " whole all happen to be Muslim are the ones that are attacking us first. How quickly we forget about 9/11 and all the other bombings that have been happening. They were all done by Muslims. Is it right to hate all of them just because of there faith? No but I do understand whay so many people don't like them. The terrorists that are doing these attacks are claiming them as holy acts. How else are we to take them. The say it themselves that it is about religion. I feal that some of you are turning a blind eye to what is in the making here. The Muslim population is growing every day. Within the next 10 years they will be the largest religion and will eventually take over. For those of you that don't care about religion think of it this way. If the Muslims do take over the world as the most powerful religion they will also start to take over the world politically as well. Those that have the most power rule. That being said those whole rule can make the rules reflect what they want them to. That also being said if the muslims do take over our country and its laws will begin to reflect there beliefs and our rights will start to disapear. You can deni this all you want but it won't change anything. Ask the people from Erope how things are going for them. If you want to ignore the facts go ahead, but I don;t want to here any bitching when the changes start to happen. Ok I am done. continue on.
But its not fair to lump all Muslims into the group of baddies, which is what is happening. If someone claiming to be Christian performs an act of terrorism do we label all Christians as terrorist? No, because we know better.
Are there Muslims running amuck creating havok? Yes, but they are
Extremist Muslims.
I highly doubt that Islam will rule the US as we stand today. After we've nuked the shit out of each other, maybe.
