Replacement drive belt source?

has anyone found a source for replacement or upgrade drive belts? My rear belt is slipping causing the rear axle to stall out on mild climbs. I checked the planetary pin and its fine. Tried cleaning the belt with soap and water, but its just too glazed to reuse.

So, does anyone have a source for new belts? any part numbers?

I'm going to go hit up some hardware stores tonight to see if they carry any small bands about the right size.

I heard O rings work well. But I have'nt done it myself.

somewhere in the forums i heard that 2-1/8 x2 5/16 o rings should work but be carefull because personally i havent tried this yet so i dont know if it affects the drive train

Found a belt that works very well for the rear axle. Its a CA6.7 belt made by PRB Line. Its the "reel" belt for Fisher/Sanyo VCRs. It comes in the VTK164 belt kit by PRB Line. Picked it up at Fry's electronics for less than $2.

Installed it and the truck has absolutely no problem crawling now. The belt is just a hair smaller than the original for the rear axle, so it transfers the power very well, even under load.

I got mine at Fry's Electronics in Phoenix. Any place that has supplies for VCR repair will have the belts.

REAR BELT: PRB Line model CA6.7.
The front belt is a little bit longer than the rear, so I am guessing that a SCA7.1 or SCA7.5 would work for it.

THey have the CA6.7 listed as SCA6.7 for $1.84 each.

If you all can measure the approximate inside circumference of the front belt, look it up on that chart there in the SCA part and that's the belt you'll need. I havent had time to look for the front belt yet, but if someone has it out and wants to measure and post up what you find, that would be very helpful.

Rear Drive Belt replacement:

1. Remove all screws out of the cover on the rear axle.
2. Carefully undo plastic snaps on outside of cover and the cover can be removed by pulling upwards. Once it is off, you'll see the belt.
3. On the side with the belt, lift up and slide off the outer axle shaft/bearing that is connected to the tire.
4. You may want to remove the gear selector lever screw and set it off to the side. 5. Once you do that, you can carefully remove the old belt by lifting up the planetary gear set and slipping it off.
6. On the motor side, the motor is loose where it sits, so just lift it up and remove the belt.
7. Reinstall the new belt and put it back together.

nicely done for the rear but now my front is slippin BADD and i am scared to start pullin that stuff apart any help would be very greatly appreciated.

also can i tape over the front and rear vents ant holes because dust and dirt is always getting in and its a pain:x

I had my front belt out once already. It's definitely a lot more involved than the rear, as the motor is buried under the planetaries in another compartment.

On mine, I just started unscrewing everything and lifting parts out until I was able to get to the motor and remove the belt.

Next time I have mine out, I'll some some careful measuring and cross reference a replacement part for you all.

Front Size???

Hi, I just took both of my belts out because the rear factory belt snapped. The rear belt in my truck is longer then the front. I just ordered a few belts from PBR line. Thanks for the info, Brian
