Rigs of rod

Yeah, I play it. It is free, is amazing... Quite a following for it, as well as many fan-made rigs and maps. Haven't played it in a while so I don't know if multiplayer servers are up.

Official Rigs of Rods Forum - Rigs of Rods

The creator of RoR recently created a new tech demo in CryEngine 3... Looks really good.

This is facinating to me.. Very interesting. I saw it a long time ago but, it looked very complicated to get involved with. I may have to give it a second chance.

The damage physics are amazing. I've been watching some of the crash videos on YouTube its crazy.

I have to admit it is kinda cool but really stupid at the same time. I always get sucked into some tiny hole and cant get out for the life of me and they need some better levels for crawling.

Also how the have the forums setup is dumb, its hard to find a crawler when everything is named random names.

You need to look in the repository for released models and maps, and such. On the forums, you'll be able to find the "build" threads of the releases, and some that are still being made, but if you're just looking for vehicles, the repository is going to have what you want.

Also, for spawning without a vehicle, you need to look, for a garage/shop, and walk in the door. It will automatically bring up a menu for you to choose a vehicle from. The game itself isn't really all that polished. It can be finicky at times, and just takes some getting used to and trouble shooting, at which point, Google is your friend.

Here is the addy for the repository....
Repository : View Files
Go there ,it has all the releases (cars, trucks, terrains, etc) and DL what you want, then move the entire file to ROR 38 (if thats what you have), in there proper folders (ie terrains go in terrains, cars/trucks go in vehicles).

Yea I found that after I posted, better now.

I wish there was a better camera angle, the 3rd person view gets cut off by all the trees and hills all the time.

Thanks for the link, but anything you download should go in the "packs" folder, not the "proper" ones. Just take the zip files and put them in packs.

SMR, C will change the camera to an in-cab position.

Yea I know about the different cameras but its hard to drive in the cab when you cant lean out the door.

What are your guys favorite rigs and maps?

I used to play it pretty extensively, but I found the controls to be kind of frustrating and overall the experience was so-so. The rigs performed well, but it was missing some of the important sounds that real off-road has, such as the sound your tires make to let you know whether or not your getting traction.

Overall, it is a good program, but it still needs polishing.
