RJ's Leafed Ascender Build

Nice video. I'd love to build another on leafs and motor up front just to see what the difference is. A high clearance skid would be cool for sure.

My setup will be changing in the near future. I plan on adding the GCM front motor mount. Also, I really like the truck performance now but to eliminate some hang ups on the skid I talked my friend in to making me a Delrin high clearance skid. That and some bent lowers and I'll start testing the performance difference between my current setup.

Wow, I can't wait to see your new setup, that skid should be interesting too. "thumbsup"

Starting to install the new high clearance skid. I did have to make some minor link adjustments. Made from Delrin. Got it from a great dude I found on FB. You can email him at Info@rc-crawler.it. The skid cost me 25 Euros plus shipping. I requested it with no holes for the tcase mount so I could place it where I wanted but he can drill it for you if you request it.

Started making the transition to the front mount. I went with the front mount from Peppe over at rc-crawler.it. The transmission mounts with two pieces made of Delrin. Very simple but solid mount setup. I also installed the new high clearance skid.

I went with the transfer case made by Peppe. The SSD Wraith driveshaft fits perfect. The other shaft is a Junfac.

Man that skid tucks up in there nicely.

I added a bent upper link to clearance the transmission at full suspension compression.

Very nice. What are you doing for a battery tray?

Not sure....for a more comp style I will probably just strap a 2200 3s in front of the servo. On the trail side I think I'll probably make some type of battery tray that will float above the transfer case. The one in the pic is mounted to the transfer case. Tray is from a Twin Hammers.

Nice. Turn the battery tray 90 degrees. Which kit mounts tranny lower, this one or GCM?

Edit: Peppe makes very nice crawler parts!

I agree he make awesome parts and I love me some Delrin.

The two front mount kits are totally different. The GCM mount moves the motor lower and the Peppe mount moves the motor more forward but sits higher. Peppe' mount is more for the beginner and the GCM mount is a little more advanced. What I mean by beginner is that there very few parts and alterations required to complete the conversion. The GCM kit is easy too but there is more hardware included to complete the conversion. With that being said, both kits do the same thing but in a very different way.

*Easiest way to explain it is the GCM mount is spur forward motor back. The Peppe mount is spur back motor forward.

Added some scale mirrors. They look like they fit right in. These are also made by Peppe at rc-crawler.it.

I can't believe how much time I've spent on two mirrors. I think they turned out pretty good.

In this one you can see the Voodoo KLRs if you zoom in. These mirrors are HD, lol.
