scale rc pre-runners

Reading this thread and thinking about my broken XXX-T makes me want to build a pre-runner like everyone else. Anyone make one based off of a stadium truck? I think I might make a variant of Thor's project:

I was thinking about getting that video but seems like it focuses on other stuff besides the trucks is thet true? Does it have some good footage?

It has trucks, buggies, and motorcycles. Not really into motorcycles but it was still a cool video

It focuses mainly on motorcycles (where it should be, you try running 1000 miles by yourself on a bike like Mouse McCoy) but it covers everyone right down to the class 11 guys, running un modded VW bugs. I was thinking today, what about making a Traxxas spirit into one, already runs a solid rear and indy front, 2wd, could make a great scale class 7 truck.

I was thinking about a Tamiya Hornet or Grasshopper and doing some serious mods. All I'd be using is the front suspension and rear axle and from what I remember they will handle the high speed fairly well. Just a thought.

Did anyone ever build one? I'm back on it now and need some inspiration. Does anyone know which 1/10 stadium truck has the most wheel travel?

Does anyone know if a clod axle with alum gears would hold up to brushless? What motors do the clod racers run? After sleeping last night I think I might go with a 2wd truck using a clod axle on the rear with independent front. That's only if the clod axle would hold up to brushless. I could stay with 2.2 tires for a more scale look. If I two link the rear for extreme up/down travel I wonder if it would work?? Thoughts, comments, suggestions, and stone throwing welcomed.

years ago when i raced clods i used astroflight brushless motors and never had problems.

also i forgot what company makes it but if you want stupid power with a 2wd clod axle in rear and ifs in front buy the double motor clod tranny...

Cool find! I am thinking of going 4wd and a more scale look with a twin or custom fabbed maxx axle.

why not buy a 1/6 scale new bright F150 and use a tlt 1 rear and a locked pede tranny behind the seats with all the electronics up front? 2.2s look like scale 37s on the new bright

I have long wanted to take a RS4 nitro mt and convert it to brushless. Then hack the back off an put a narrowed twin axle in back w/ some prerunner style trailing arms. 2.2's might be too wide, but they wouldn't be that hard to narrow.

why go through all that when you could build your own (more scale) chassis? wouldn't be much more work (if it was anymore work)....

it would work if you lowered the body mounts and put a new body on it like shown above. too bad i live all the way out in Maryland no prerunner buddies for me.
