Scx10 Honcho Short Course build.

Got another bumper. Will do some modding to get body lower, could I raise the shock mounting point to lower cog instead of getting smaller shocks? Either way.

Thank you for the advice.

Gonna fiddle around with shocks and if all else fails I'll go back to tsl's to get the body down with out having to trim to fit the boggers.

You could raise the shock mounting point, but probably not far enough without cutting through the body. You really only need the travel length of a 90mm shock. Too much more and the truck acts like a slinky and rolls over.

You should be able to fit the boggers without much if any trimming as is even lowering the body. A little rub is OK. You have to remember the shorter shocks will act as bump stops to prevent the tire from travelling too far into the body.

Fiddled with shocks, lowered the rig a bit while preserving the travel. Without doing a lot of trimming, and other fab I don't feel comfortable doing without a dremel, I think the body will sit at its current height on the frame. I took some shots of new bumper and ride height. Still probably too high, would like to know if I'm getting there though.

Pics of articulation and ride height(first pic before, the rest after). New bumpers as well. Think I should shorten the wheel base a little bit also.

Looks way better! Only thing I still cant justify is that contraption of a cage on the back. Without it, it would look tits IMO. Could even give brake line a chance and make your own cage.

Are those swampers 1.55 or 1.9's? Sitting here squinting my ass off trying to read the tire hahaha

Body is Clean!

Would really like some input here.
#1. Should I keep the lightbar that comes with truck. 4 LEDs sit on roof bar.

#2. Ways of mounting this body. I could drill holes but I think I would rather find another way. I'm sure some of those experienced in scale building might have some tips.

Got Tips? Share em please!

you could try magnets or velcro

Swampers are 1.9s.

Wish I could. ATM I'm on the road with no garage or tools. I will check on creating something with the parts I have that complements the body more. Ty for the opinion!!

Should have nets soon. Any thoughts on possibly putting a dinky interior in it? Checked into them and they are pretty reasonable for my budget.

After taking the cage off and throwing some ideas around in my brain pan, a friend of mine(more like a brother) called me and the idea popped up to use some of the badges he has given to me on the back. After running it by him and his reply being I'll send you a small variety of newer ones I decided the cage is gone and replaced by a Velcro strip that can hold whatever patch I feel like running that day.

Gonna do some more work on lowering the rear about a half inch.

The whole truck sits at stock height now. I have done a rough measurement and I have about 5 mm more upward travel and about 25 mm more downward travel of the axle. Working on shortening the wheel base now.

My only problem withe the cage is the bars that go along the doors. Just looks wrong. Imho. You almost have a zombie survival truck look going there. Maybe some bars added to the windows and spikes! I know the zombie rigs have been kinda done but hey if it looks cool.
I have been thinking of doing a Mad Max type rig myself.

I agree. I think without adding more apocalyptic theme to it they are out of place. Not really going for that ATM so the cage is set to the side until I have some means of fabricating one to fit.

I like the height and flex I'm getting out of the truck now. I need to shorten the wheel base by about 15-20 mm. I think it will look right in the rear and I might be able to save the wheel wells I have left. Gonna take a look around and see what I can find to help with that. Put the tsl's back on to see the look and it's alright. Not sure what look I like more. Will get around to that after shortening the wheel base.

Put tail lights back on. Waiting on nets this week and hopefully links next week.

It has been a while since I have updated this thread. Shortened the wheel base by about 8mm, would like another 4-6 but I like the way it performs so I probably wont mess with the wheel base any more. Sticking with the boggers, saving tsl's for future build.

The truck still leans a little when under torque but not enough to effect it when bound up on some rocks or tree roots.

Have a set of t-rex 60 arb axles I am going to put under it and a new servo to go with. Current stock servo still works fine and will be used with a upcoming build as a secondary rig for my wife to use as well as the stock scx10 axles.

Truck is running on stock esc/motor with a 2s 20c lipo so I an confident I wont be breaking axles or anything in the T-Rex's.

I have added some window and winshield nets as well as a interior cheaply created out of soda cans and waxed cardboard. No dash yet, still looking around to feel out what I am doing with that.

I know this truck isn't super scale but I feel its different and stands out a little bit, Plus I like it so .

I do like hearing what people think though, Even if your tellin me I have a big turd for a truck, if you can explain why, I am happy to hear it!

Will post up Pics of T-Rex's under it when I get the Upper 4 link mount I am missing figured out.

The next bit is very pic heavy, Bunch of trail shots.

Had another hiking day. Can't wait for the 1.9 wraith to join us, but its still in the works, a lot left on it before we get to trail shots. Here are the trail shots from today. Latest upgrade is a savox waterproof servo within the 200 oz range, I don't need much more than that on this rig. I am looking into new foams for the boggers though, trying to soften them up a little bit and get some more bite on the rocks. As most of my funds are being saved to get the 1.9 wraith a motor/esc, they probably wont be here soon unless I win a give away or something.

Hope you enjoy the pictures!
Happy Crawling,

First up is a creek we found, got deep enough to hit the windows at one point but we made it through!

Next we came across I nice spot to park and relax for a minute. Enjoy the sounds of nature a little bit on a nice day.

Next was a muddy hill climb through a small wash out. Hard to capture the angle of the truck, but I'm glad I stiffened the suspension in the left side! Now if those tires weren't so bouncy( working on venting the wheels or tires when I get new foams).

Lastly on the way to the parking lot, there was a long straight bridge. Decided to let the scx pull the stroller this last bit( Mom still steering of course ).

Over all a nice day, all these pics are taken with an Iphone, apologies if some are a little choppy, Overall a nice day on the trails!

Cut the bloggers and they will perform much better

Found a way to cut them I was comfortable with even though they aren't vented or using good foams. Based of this...

Hope they perform! Should find out this weekend.

Nice job on the trad trimming. Best looking set I've seen yet.

I'll admit, when I saw the first couple sky-high pics with miscellaneous bodies on it I thought it might turn into a turd. But it seems like you finally have a handle on it.

Looks like you could benefit from some simple brackets to raise the sliders up closer to the body. More usable ground clearance and cleaner appearance is a win.

Let us know how that servo holds up. Mine lasted an hour and a half of hard use before it decided to glitch badly.

With some guidance and adjustments the truck sits a little high, but manageable( I really appreciate all the feedback I got telling me to lower my rig). So far that servo has been through about 1.5 hours of creeks ditches and a couple mud holes, I did add a o-ring on the front of the spline as well. marine greased it a little and its been pretty good.

Thanks for the compliment on tires and suggestion on the new sliders, will try to see what I can fund/fabricate."thumbsup"
