rit dye

Rit dye is great. i use it alot with lacrosse sticks. to get the color really dark you have to keep the liquid warm, not too hot dont want to deform the wheels but if you use a pice of string to stop it from touching the botom of the pan you can keep it on a low flame and just check it every 10 min. also it depends on how much u diloot it. 1 package might not be enough if you are using alot of water. also a helpfull hint is to coat your sink with dish soap, so when you dispose of the liquid and rince off wheels + stiring utensils the dye doesnt stick to the counter. also when you rince it has to be cold water. if it warm it will take some color off with it...

and if you dye something black it WILL fade with time. i have some lacrosse sticks that are now half purple becaus the black is fading away.

if you want to go crazy with different colors dye with the lighter colors first adn use HOT GLUE and draw paterns then dye with something darker. continue with as many colors u want (3 is more than enought). rince with cold water. stick in freezer or outside so the glue gets brittle and easier to take off. and you will end up with a sick looking RIM. haha

Thank for tips but deicded not to bother with it.. i ll just paint it and be done with it..

this one what i used for my rims http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/tes/tes1249.htm

I sprayed it 3x coats. i m sure you can add some kind of clear spray for extra protect it.

Well i have no problem about scrape it off but i m sure it might do a little.. i ll just spray it and play hehe!

I narrowed the rims down to 2 inches i think it does extra help protect the rims but who cares...

I wouldn't worry about the clear coat. As they are now, if you get a scratch it will be simple to do a touch up :)
