Skaldiddog's "Progress"

You crazy guys and your....."precision"..........plain old scissors work just fine! :ror:
Apparently you have not seen my "cut n shuts". They turn out more like "cut in stay opens".

Tire making is probably the only single thing I would hire out to have done on my car.

I hear you man. That's what scares me about using scissors...uneven margins. Hopefully the 406 will work on the ".06" rubber. But I'm no pro...so her we go...bro'. If I suck at it I may have to call on RcBros. He volunteered to assist if I develop a case of the fuggits.

i have had certain tires that dont like the 406 for those i use loctite 495. i have no experience with the voodoos, so i dont know how they will respond to it, just wanted to give you a heads up

My cut n shuts look like prunes

I'm afraid that's what I'll end up with too.

Gracias.

If you give up on the rovers keep me in mind! Im running low on stock.

That's kinda jumping the gun:ror:...but I'll keep you on the list.

Taking Cut n Shut to the next level, looking forward to your findings Joel."thumbsup"

I'll post some pics of the cutting jig later today. You ever attend a supercars race?

That's why I use Gap Filling CA. "thumbsup"

Another option. Cheers. I need all the help I can get.

Voodoo Chile Re-Mix Update: Edward No Scissor Hands

Here is the jig I made to control the cutting (diameter reduction) of Voodoos. I have to pick up the compression bolt tonight and will take more pics of the assembled jig. In short the large disk goes inside the tire and the other parts sandwich one sidewall between the large disk and one of the steel cutting guides.

Voodoo Chile Re-Mix Update: Edward No Scissor Hands

Hey y'all,

RCC won't let me upload more than 5 pics at a time so I'll post these over multiple entries. I've tried for 45 minutes to get it to load and it keeps crashing.

On to the tires. Overall it was not as bad as I though it would be. The jig worked very well. All of the cut margins were nice and flat. I cut a 0.100" strip out of the side wall for a diameter reduction of 0.200". With foam on a 0.900" wheel they are just a tad larger than my Rovers, which is just where I wanted them (pic one of the next few posts).

Time to upload the next set of pics...

Pics Part II

Ok, now RCC will only let me upload one pic at a time before it starts replacing the previous upload with a subsequent upload. Annoying. I'll post this one and keep on trying.

Pics Part III

This time it let me do 4 pics before choking.
As you can see the glue aims well with the needle applicators and the margin on the inside of the tire is almost invisible. I did put a bead around this as well. The cool thing is that the tread pattern was not disturbed by the cut n shut process.

Voodoo Chile Re-Mix Update: Edward No Scissor Hands

Finally done uploading!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, it took more time to upload these images than it took to cut and glue one tire.

This last one is of a (L to R) empty stock Voodoo, cut and foamed Voodoo on 0.900" wheel and one of my rovers mounted up.

Tonight I'll knock out three more and get started tuning foams.

Oh, cut tires weigh ~5g less a piece than un cuts.
