Iv been looking at aftermarket speed controls for my rig. I cant find any dual motor ESC for a resonable price. Can you hook up a single motor speed control to run dual motors? What speed controls are you guys running?
i guess this was one of the orignal ways everyone "made" there dig units. i see alot of MOA rigs in other sections still using this set up. camobob had one on his version on the pimpcane 10 a few days ago. maybe he will chime in and let us know how he liked it!
Well i bought a duratrax intellespeed ESC for a 16T modified motor. I ran the motors in parralle to the ESC and it seems to work great. Alot better than the stock ESC. The only trouble is i dont have braking is there a way to hook that up. This may seem like a stupid question but what is a dig switch?
A dig switch, in simple terms, allows you to either lock the front wheels, lock the rear wheels, or have 4wd with the dig turned off. It allows for a tighter turning radius and is pretty useful to have. The servo/dig switch setups work pretty well, I ran one for quite a while, but they can be a bit bulky and unless you have a radio with some sort of end point adjustments you can burn up the servo. You also need to have soldering skills to wire it up.
As far as ESC's are concerned, "single motor" ESC's will work...especially ones like a Tekin FXR, castle sidewinder, etc... Stroll around through the berg, bully, and xr10 sections and you'll see what single ESC configurations that guys use. I wouldn't suggest buying one that doesn't have a drag brake...it's much nicer having a brake.
