Spektrum receiver antenna problem

So i now have two spektrum receivers with damaged antenna ends, this is because about 1/3 of the antenna's have gotten ripped out when my losi dt flips on it's roof and slides on concrete pavement for 30 feet:twisted:, my problem is obviously the signal range has gotten affected by this, i barely have like 100 ft of range, can i just solder a same gauge wire to the receiver's board and regain the range it had before? i know that on the regular receivers it worked, not sure on the spektrum's and if anything will get affected by this.

The spektrum antenna wire is coaxial. Regular wire won't cut it. You can send it in to Horizon and they can replace the antenna for you.

If they are SR3100 DSM 2 Rx's you can pick up this kit and replace them yourself.

The SR3100 antenna has a snap connector for the board similar to the internal antenna on the Spektrum transmitters.

Any of the other models though, will need to be sent in to Horizon for repair.

Why are you running the antennas outside of the bdywork I never run mine outside the body anymore.

Thanks, but i rather buy the part and do it myself, save money and time on shipping back and forth to my country.8)

that was my first question when i read your post...

I wasn't running them ouside, the antenna probably got jolted on the truck while it was flipping on it's back, and it ended getting scrapped and severed off.

On another note, i have a spektrum radio that never worked from the same losi dt, and i remember it having the same wire for the anntena, i hope it works and i would only need to get one for the other receiver.

Not on the sr3000 rx. I was able to resolder one of mine. Thats what i get for buying a used one...:|

If you need to buy another receiver in the future, get an airplane 6ch receiver like the AR6200. AFAIK, these will work with any Spektrum DSM2 Tx.

The range on these things, with their stubby 1" antenna, is excellent. Here in the UK, they cost about the same as the 3ch RXs. The "parkflyer" version is even cheaper.
I guess that they sell a lot more aircraft Txs, so you get more for your money as the unit production cost is lower.

Spektrum's air rx's are not compatible with surface tx's and vice versa, so I would "guess" that a receiver reverse engineered to be compatible with a Spektrum Air Tx would not work with a surface Tx. There are a few questions in the comment section wondering the same thing. Time will tell...

If you find yourself having to replace a SR3000 antenna, save the printed circuit board from future desoldering and soldering operations by soldering a short piece of solid wire or component lead into the board hole where the antenna wire goes. Use this short piece of wire as a "post" and solder your antenna wire to that.

This mod makes it much faster and easier to replace the antenna wire if it breaks again.
