SSRCC Comp #3 - June 5 - Gainesville

Who got mad and left? A couple local guys left because of prior engagements. Judging by the scoresheets that I have here there was only one person who missed the 3rd course.

Mini got mad and left right after we scored his course 3. I am still thinking it is something I did wrong? In which case I would prefer to be corrected so I learn, I am still new at this and trying to help where I can.

No one was scoring after the first couple runs, so I put down the camera and Kenny and I jumped in and scored the rest of the course.

I am happy to help any way I can, but if I made an error that caused a guy to pack his shit and leave, I would like to know what I did wrong, I do not want to be the cause of people not enjoying themselves.

I don't think it was any 1 thing, he was just having a bad day.;-)

Ok, well if I scored wrong, made an error, missed something, etc, that led to it, I would like correction so I do not make that error again.

I sent him a text about it and got no response, he usually responds quickly to me, so I was left feeling I did something to ruin a guys comp when I stepped up to keep things moving.

Glad that might not be the case.

For the record I had a blast! The terrain was nuts, the courses were layed out nice the bugs were held at bay by the Thermacells (thanks David!) and I managed to make it though the day with out busting my ass on the slippy stuff! My best finish in a state event to date did not hurt my day any either "thumbsup"

I'm going to try and get to one of the comps down there, cause you guys have been to a few of ours. "thumbsup"

I have had a couple of days to think about the event on Sunday & I feel the same way as Mini, the comp was bull$hit! You guys are damn lucky there was a comp Sunday. You can’t help the weather but a backup plan needs to be in order, especially at a place that has LIMITED area, yeah theres a lot of “Rock” there but not much to crawl on so you can have 8 gates & three courses that have not been ran to death.

I did not mind having to clear a place for a course but when I ask the group standing around to go & build a 2nd course I was met with a lot of blank stare’s & acting like they did not know what I was talking about. So to all that crawls & is planning to crawl you need to know that from time to time YOU will be asked to do things as in judging, course building & such. Also members need to brush-up on the rules & know what to do on certain calls & call them!

Also when you go the day before & see that the place is limited area & crawling a few hours around on the stuff you can crawl all that is to be offered, keep you mouth shut about how “yesterday we crawled this, this way & that, that way & so & so showed us this & that”, in my book that’s called pre-running.

This is not aimed at anyone person, just know that it take more that a couple of people to make this come together so EVERYONE can have a good time.

If you have a problem with anything in this post don’t be a keyboard cowboy, PM me for my phone # & we will chat about it.

Damn you guys need to get the sand out of your vaginas.

All I know is that I spent alot of time out there over the last 3 weeks trying to link some spots together so we wouldn't have to run the same stuff again. The weeks before I filled the trunk of my car with smaller stuff from my home course to help link stuff together. I even had to take my 4 yr old daughter out there because I had no other options. That in turn led to her falling and us making a trip to the hospital for staples to her head.

Course 2 was one of those sections that we worked on before the comp. We cleaned alot of vines and junk out of there. It was new and hadn't been crawled on and was a good course. Everyone semed to like it. We tweaked it a little bit for the last couple of gates but that only took a few minutes.

Course 1 was what was being worked on when I got there. Real fun course that Donnie and Kinson worked on in the heat that morning.

Course 3 was real close to what we had run before. Took very little work to change it from previos versions. Last climb was tough for everyone, me included, luckily I got a good bounce and made it up.

Finals course only used the downhill from previous courses and took very little if any work to change it to the way we ran it.(other than the bridge of course) Damn fun course.

As far as an accusation of prerunning...................I took Tydl and Dickyt out there to show them the spot. Ran on the big rock out by course 1, spent a couple minutes on the top of the hill by the Finals course and goofed off on a single climb that was not a part of any course. No running of courses and only places where all of us have run many times before in better conditions.

Gee Dick'e sorry you had to do that, sorry someone needed a break man.

And a well deserved one "thumbsup" Donnie, please do not take my statement as a complaint. happy to help, just concerned my inexperience may have ruined other peoples days.

I wrote a long a$$ post but something happen and got erased so not going to type the whole thing again right now am at work and don't have time to rewrite all of it, but as soon a I get home I will post up.

I do this cause I enjoy it and love it. I have a tone a fun and enjoy it.

I was pissed for one caus of things that when down an thigs I heard t the comp. This is a group thing and everyone ned to put in and help an not the same 4 guys doing everything. If you don't know download the rule book and get familure with it plain and simple.

I really happy my order of the groups went down smooth that is step one in the right direction.

When I get to the comp am told it's about time you get here, am sorry I was late making copys of the score sheets for everyone, that sparked me up right off the bat don't need that shit a simple hello wuz up good to se you is fine if don't say hi to you or something off the bat and not being rude I just want to get things started and rolling, we were running behind of the bat.

I will say at the next comp the judgeing will be to par with what is being used at all comps. What I mean by that is time stopping, repairs, etc. if you don't like it to bad thats the way comps are ran. If you do not agrre with a call that was made you can question it after your run and it will be explained and be final. Also if you plan to judge get familar with the rules example if your front tires pass a gate and time runs out and your rear axle does not cross it is not progress, if you get a touch time stops you place the car on the last gate passed with the rear tires once the car is placed down time starts.

Another thing like said we are here to have fun there are no pro drivers amature drivers etc. we are here to have fun and enjoy ourselfs.

I make suggestions and changes to help this club and push it foward if you don't like changes then fine I will drop everything and not do any more just show up compete and leave very simple, anyone that knows me it does not mess with me on bit to drive 8 hours to another state and compete in there state comp but I know I will have a blast and everyone will pitch in to help.

Donnie and Matt know that I love to rep my state 110% especially in huge comps. After see how Sat went down it reminded me of RC Drifting down here everyone in litle groups or clicks little girl stuff to keep it short it ruinned drfiting down here and I wanted noigthing to do with anyone in it so came to crawling were I knew no one will follow. So when I say this it in no way putting you down but the florida section already has a club SSRCC we have no need for teams or clicks seperation or any of that little girl stuff. If you want to have GTG call them that if you want to host a comp under your name do it on your website not here have been told by others that we dont need that here. Everyone is a part of SSRCC and thats all we need.

After talk with Matt and Donnie they know were I stand and thats that. This is alot shorter than my frist one but just wanted to get straight to the point.

WOW, I thought this was a hobby. I did not know we was running $100,000 rigs & competing for the right to be god all mighty!!!!

I love it when anyone says something bad about a buddys deal or expresses a opinion about a area this gets thrown out there :flipoff:
Don't be a asshat.

Sorry Mini, no one ever told me they do not want me posting our local comp stuff in the Florida section or I would not have been doing it.

I was under the impression it is the Florida section and the place to post the events that we hold at Miramar. I will no longer post our local stuff here "thumbsup"

btw: the whole RockTards thing is just sillyness, I'm a bit retarded and thought it would be fun to have a LOCAL club. it is not a click that wants to be separated from the rest, just a name a couple local guys thought would be fun and silly to hold local events under.

Just a few word of advice from someone who has been around this block a few times.

1) Events that are part of your series, and are part of the process that decides who goes to Nationals should be ran on courses that are challenging like Nationals courses. Thats what being a USRCCA club is all about. If you don't care about Nationals that's fine, but don't advertise yourself as that kind of club

Donnie, Matt, and Mini know what to expect because they have been there/ done that"thumbsup"

2) Give beginners some sort of option.

I could be optional gates, beginner courses or "amateur" class. Donnie can explain how RCA is doing it.

3) Stick with free crawl. There is a reason ALL the Major comps use it"thumbsup" Assigned courses and groups don't work IMO.

Reason # 1 if a judge is slack or hard the same group benefits or suffers ALL day depending how it works out.

Reason #2 Natural course deterioration or improvement is a big part of driving strategy. I don't want some else deciding which course I run first. If there is mud on one course maybe I don't want to run that one first. Picking the right driving strategy can be as important as picking the right tire. IMO it doesn't make sense to have someone else decide that.

4) Decide things in advance....NOT on Comp Day.

Am saying to not post GTG on here I have done a bunch and they were GTG's those are fine but when you name after your own group it's something diffrent. And we have a local club SSRCC that is the local club. Like I said when you separate yourself from everyone is when shit happens like it did down here.

Forgot to say I am sorry to all the new guys that showed up I mean no disrespect for just leaveing and not say bye to anyone was not having a good day from the beging and let it get to me and my driving for that am sorry hope to see you at the next comp.

I wish someone would have said something to me months ago, I would have not posted any of it, certainly was not trying to ruffle any feathers. This really is the first I am hearing of this.

South Florida has zero organized crawling so I was trying to get something organized for the guys in the tri county area (Florida is a big fawking state), completely separate from SSRCC which is the state series with the nats bid. I was never trying to present us as an USRCCA contender, just a name for a group that comps down Miami way, we are all still part of SSRCC silly names aside.

I only posted it in here because RCC is a great site, and when you google RC Crawling it is at the top. I was hoping to get more faces to show up with the exposure that RCC gets, and we have added a couple.

I will no longer post any type of "local" (miramar) comp information on RCC, sorry to any who were offended, next time say something upfront"thumbsup"If I am in the wrong I will make it right with haste.

Mini, you have known me a while now and know I am not the type to want to create trouble, I burnt out on drifting because of the us vs them shit too, I kept trying to gap that bridge to bring everything together and all it did was burn me out.
