I'm just finishing up my yeti score tt kit and it's time for an esc and motor. The only major mod that I have made is the ssd diamond wide rear axle, will be running stock tires and axle gearing. My son has the rtr TT with a 20 tooth pinion on 2s and it's okay for him but a little slow for me. I not concerned about crawling....I want torque and more speed for bashing and just messing around at the local track. I plan on using 2s and 3s.
Options that I was considering.

brushless sensored: Holmes Hobbies Pro Puller 3500 XL with a Mamba X ESC.

brushless non sensored: Unknown motor (please make suggestions) with a Hobbywing ezrun wp sc8 waterproof 120a brushless esc.

I know that I can't go wrong with a sensored setup but I wonder if I really need it for bashing...I could put the money saved on upgrades or more batteries. That said, I only want to purchase a motor and esc once.

thoughts and feedback appreciated.

For bashing sensored isn't needed, but doesn't hurt. sensored gives u a smoother startup and better low speed control. on the other hand sensored isn't as good as unsensored at high speed, the diffrence is minimal so u would not mention it. just technical.

i personally have an mmx with cc1410 3800kv unsensored.
if i have to choose now. i would go with the new mamba X and HH Puller Pro XL 3500kv or cc 1410 3800kv sensored. Cause i like to bash and crawl/trail my little monster. I minimized the disadvantage in crawl trail with the 2 speed option.

I run the HW WP-SC8 with the RTR Vanguard motor on 3s and a 20t pinion. It's plenty fast and has enough low speed control to walk along next to me on a trail. It probably does 30-35mph and can light up all 4 tires on anything but the roughest concrete.

If I was doing it again, however, I'd put in the Castle 1512 Chinese knockoff motor I put in my slash. Lots of torque, and on 3s, stays much cooler.

Neu-Castle 1512 Castle Creations 1Y 1/8 Brushless Motor (2650kV) CAR BIG SALE!!! | eBay

I went Hobbywing Xerun XR8 SCT Brushless ESC/3660SD G2 Motor Combo (3200kV) w/ my Yeti, so I recommend the same ESC along w/ the 3600kv for the TT. A little more wattage for the smaller tires. Fantastic sensored combo for under 200 bucks. It's the perfect combo for the Yeti platform.

After pondering options and suggestions I just ordered the Holmes Hobbies Pro Puller 3500 XL with a Mamba X ESC. More than I wanted to spend but hopefully this combo is fits my buy once motto;-).
