Thought I posted this build here but guess not. Been working on it off and on since March. Posting pics on IG.

JD Models Overland 4x4.

Super cool details, shiftable transmission and lockable axles.
I did post lots of stock pictures here.

http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/general-scale-talk/614911-new-rc4wd-overland-trucks-4x4-6x6.html

Swapped the wheels to some 1.9 on the stock 1.7 tires, neither will be used

Then I cut the cab.

Then I cut the frame and shortened the wheelbase to like 12.5”

Looking good so far ....will follow !

Thanks.

Using scrap bin parts and delrin rod for “tube work” on the body/bed. 0.060 styrene sheet for rear bed panel. Scrap bin rear bumper for bed tube work. Mixed in some 3/16 steel tube for cross braces.
Servo mount pieces and whatever else I could find to mount things to truck.
Heated up and bent delrin rod. Used 3mm long set screws to hold it together.
Tamiya tires with printed 2” wide 1.9 wheels.

Wow it's great to watch one of your builds come together! An inspiration for me at least

Speechless:shock:...it needs some bada$$ driveshafts , though.
Oh man, that thing will be sooo wicked

Thanks! Those pictured are for mock up. Still lots of things to finalize.

Wow, I do like that [emoji106]

Kinda a mash up Trials Truck and a wide tire European mud truck.

Neato! "thumbsup"

Indeed!

Nice to see you still building and posting. Thank you"thumbsup"

Thanks. I’ve been slacking, only 4 builds in 2020 so far. Haha. Arctic Truck, IFRS GOM, mud dragster and this (all here on RCC). I am building a 1:1, 80cc two stroke mini atv in the garage too.

Thanks. Inching along with it.

Started on interior detailing/painting prep.

Holy hell dude, that is one awesome rig. I love the scale of the cab, after you modified it. Your attention to detail is so much fun to watch unfold in these threads.

Cheers,
Gable

These rigs are fun to watch on Youtube. How are you fastening the plastic rod together?

Looks great mister "thumbsup"

Did you get the diffs to shift with the two speed?
I’m having a!! @£$).xx?#%!!! Wonderful time! With them. My front shocks are on the way from JD, I’m making rear mounts for the 55mm .

Keep this bad boy going!

The transmission on this thing is beefy (1.5lbs alone) and hangs pretty low. I made the subframe kind of sweep back to go with the forward bias cab look. Going to add some tabs and skids to it this weekend.

Thanks. I go so far with the details and then am like “eh, close enough”. Haha

Yah, I didn’t have much issue with setting it up. Cable/servo/radio/arm throw wise.
I did have to shorten the servo arm after mounting the cab. And kind of dremel the dash and floor mesh point to get it sit flush to make as much room for the servo through.
I am running a 1200kv Holmes motor on 4s it should be a decent mix of slow and fast.

This paint is the worst but I liked the color and didn’t have to go to the store.
I actually took my time to prep and sand all the pieces before painting too. Paint was thin coating and ran. I dislike painting RC’s and never have taken the time to study up. It’s close enough though, especially after a few mud runs.
I did run out and had to paint the interior yellow accents a slight different shade. Close enough.

Love it, as always! Lunchbox tires stretched over 2.2 wheels always look cool. :)

I did that first but then had some 2” wide 1.9 wheels printed up. Stretching over 2.2 was a tad much. Haha
Fun fact, there are two different 1.9 tamiya tires. I ordered up an extra pair for a single spare out back and it was shorter. No biggie though, it will work.

Love it Shane!

Thanks. I did repaint the door interior yellow so it no matches. May or may not do the seats to match. Got extra paint yesterday.

Painting stuff and slowly doing final assembly.
Subframe welded up with panel tabs and painted. Mock up panels/skids.
