Szczerba's 2012 Secret Agent'd 4.0 Berg

Re: Szczerba's 2012 Secret Agent'd Berg

Those spring rates are way off IMO (not Ashton's fault but Losi's). The blue rears are significantly softer than losi golds. The pink fronts are softer than the silver rears. I would go by feel of hand and on the car. "thumbsup"

It could also just be that the smaller spring see's more leverage due to its smaller OD?

Good points.
I usually do go by spring feel but have never seen those Mini T spring rates published, so I figured they were right. Everything is correct on the internet, no? :ror:

Re: Szczerba's 2012 Secret Agent'd Berg

That is very similar to my setup on the Berg SS (springs, link placement, etc). Its something new I am trying and I like it alot.

With such a soft suspension, moving the uppers up on the rear axle really seems to keep the front axle under control (lifting)...not to mention the added traction "thumbsup"

Yes, my SS was the same setup. Rear uppers all the way up and fronts one hole down. Rear upper was always one hole up from the front uppers, depending on chassis placement. I ran long greens up front and long blues out back but it was 5lbs 9oz too.
Even when I would pick up the SecretAgent to carry it, the suspension just felt different. Seemed like the front just "fell down".

It's all about squat and anit-squat adjustments. "thumbsup" And shock tuning and weight tuning and shock limiting, and testing and well you get it. :ror:

I just sent a Shane a text telling him that the chart has to be off because the orange springs don't feel anywhere near 2.0 and they feel softer than a blue. Then I log in and see this :lmao:

I have not received said text. So the statement above was made up and someone dopped Helhedded with aforementioned spring rates.

Re: Szczerba's 2012 Secret Agent'd Berg

Truck is really working now after some upper link changes.
I am liking 10.75" up front and 10.5" out back.
RTR Weight is 5lbs 4oz

Mike Manning was on his game as usual.

6 minutes, 10 gates. 3 courses had bonus gates. 40 points.
1. Mike Manning -33 (15, -20 w/bonus, -10, -18 w/bonus)
2. Shane Szczerba -14 (22, -28 w/bonus, -3, -5 w/bonus)
3. Rockedup Ricky 30 (-7, 14, 16, 7)
4. Thommy TGreer 59 (22, -9, 22, 24)
5. Psychocrawler John 83 (22, 26, 7, 28)
6. Jarred 106 (26, 22, 28, 30)
7. Boone 120 (28, 28, 32, 32)

Video from one of the runs at Crystal Lake, AR. NWARC 1st point series comp. A couple of tricky gates I get up slowed up on.
Quality is low.

Truck is getting butter smooth now.

It is a cool spot. About 50 yards of it. Creek bed that is shaded during the summer too. "thumbsup"

I made up some CityBlock Evo's (soft) on sedona sidewalls to test but ran them on the sportsman.

Video update. Thanks to RolandRockShop for the videos. "thumbsup"

Truck is really crawling great. And when the driver does what he is supposed to the combo is a good one.

I ended up 2nd only by one point.

Couple videos from ARCC Comp 3 at DeGray Lake, AR.

Course 1. Gate 3 and 4 were tricky. Had to take a gate on 3.

Course 2. Little more technical. Slid into gate 6.

Course 3. Didn't start off too good. But cleaned a gate no one else did on the clock. Gate 4.

It's the og 4.0 :ror:

Those videos are from a spot that has alot of slick rocks with some high traction areas where the rock is broken up. The ol' 18 month old Khaos-Rovers are still hooking up. :ror:

Yeah those tires seem to do well for ya. I am was curious about running 3.5" bigbores on the secret agent but I ordered the 3.5 for an xr build. I just can't seem to get the scx10 shocks to work good.

All the SCX10 shocks I have ran on comp trucks have been the aluminum bodied versions. Ran them right side up and never had any issues. They get that air bubble in them if you run em upside down and do some funky stuff.

I do prefer the BigBores cause they can be run upside down and you can run a full size spring or a mini spring.
Which is what I have now. BigBores all around, mini t springs up front and full size losi's out back.

Couple comp pictures from last weekend.

You're running 4'' BB or 3.5 with cap mod and also what oil are you using?

Yes, 4" big bores (TRA2662) with revo rod end mod.

Front: Losi Pink springs up front with Losi 40wt oil, 3 hole pistons, 6mm external limited, 12-15mm internal limited

Rear: Losi 2.75" Losi 1.2lb black springs, Losi 40wt oil, 3 hole pistons, 5mm external limit, ~15-20mm internal limited IIRC

I set the internal limits up to get my ride height at first then adjusted for flex. Can't 100% recall the rear limiters length. They were 20mm at first and I don't think I have changed them. Just the outside limiters.

More details in Post #117 of latest setup.

I see you posted lunsford links on page one were those always there or??? I am assuming those are what you ordered... I am finally starting to build the one I got from you months ago..
