Tamiya Datsun 240Z body on XV-01 Pro Chassis?

Hey Rally guys,
This will be my first rally car. I am in love with the Datsun 240Z that Tamiya offers and was about to pull the trigger on the DF-03Ra kit. (I have already ruled out the old TT-01E kit)

Someone mentioned the XV-01 pro chassis and how much better it was than the DF-03Ra.

So my question is, will the Datsun 240Z body fit directly on the XV-01 chassis with little to no modification? I'm sure someone has done it but a quick search didn't turn up any results.

TIA

It hasn't been done, because sadly the wheel base is different. It only works with the DF03Ra because the wheelbase is adjustable. But the XV-01 platform is so good I just don't see any reason to buy anything else. It might be possible to make it fit the XV-01 platform, but I don't think anyone has explored it in depth.

If you have decided to give up on the XV01 chassis, you can still have a newer rally spec chassis that can fit the Datsun. Check out the TT02, you easily can set it up for rally out of the box.

Or, you can just cut the wheel arches of the body differently. The wheelbase for the Datsun is just 5mm shorter than the standard ones.

I'm sure you can massage it on there. 5mm isn't that much really. You can cu out the fenders more and then add flares to cover it up some

Yeah.. was hoping someone might have already done it and save me the R&D. haha

I might just go with the DF-03Ra kit. It will be run on a limited basis and the need for the BEST chassis is not that great.

As long as your batteries are small enough and you don't mind dealing with ball diffs then the df03ra isn't a bad chassis especially considering that your electronics are small enough to fit as well

It is pretty noticeable. I dropped that body on my DF03 before changing the WB and it didn't look right at all.

Pretty sure the XV does not go down to that WB (at least, not with the dirt shields installed) though I'm not 100% sure. The older TT01's could do it though. I believe that body was even offered on a TT chassis if I remember correctly.

Does anybody know if the Castrol Celica '93 or '97 can fit on the XV-01 or do those bodies also have the same slightly shorter wheelbase than the XV-01?

They will fit, you just need to find the bodies.. They're presently out of production
