I'm looking for a tap and die set with all the common sizes that we use for Rc, can anyone point me in the direction of a set like this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't mind getting a craftsman set but I need to know what sizes are commonly used in Rc. I'm looking to thread for links and the sort for my crawler.

Greenfield from McMaster-Carr. Use a 2 flute tap so the chips have a chance to fall out of the way.

i have the tap and die set from harborfreight and i have had any problems with it. plus if it does break it is cheap enough to replace but have had that problem yet.

Considering what material, aluminum and plastics, would be threaded and tapped, an inexpensive set will more than be good enough.

And like others have said, cheap to replace.

just my .02$

A tap is always cheap until you not only have to replace the tap, but also the piece of material your tap just broke off in.... "thumbsup" Buy quality taps, use oil, and go SLOW.. 1/4 - 1/2 turn in, 1/8 to 1/4 turn out and repeat all the way through...

I have been using the harbor freight set for over 5 years and have yet to break a tap. Using it from everything to building my fullsize buggy to rc stuff.

Like said go slow, use oil and dont force it and they will last a while. I have all but worn out the 3mm tap, but it has probably 100 uses on it. Just got old.

Recommend it. Hell for the price even the holders that you get are worth it and then buy some McMaster carr taps for frequently used sizes.
