Terminator Salvation shall be the first of a new Terminator trilogy that will dwell on the post-apocalyptic world of 2018.

The official US trailer of Terminator Salvation, aka Terminator 4 has been released by Warner Bros. Christian Bale seems to really give a new dimension to the character of John Connor. That's not the crying toddler from Terminator 3, he's become the man that will lead Mankind during the final war against the machines.
Will John Connor find a way to trick the omnipotent Skynet and its army of terminators? And what about Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), the stranger whose last memory is of being on death row? is he here to help John Connor or does he have some secret agenda of his own?
This new Terminator is said to be a darker take on the famous post-apocalyptic franchise. But this sneak preview of the trailer of Terminator 4 does not seem as bleak as the glimpse of terminator armies seen in the previous Terminator movies...

But one should remember that Terminator Salvation is the first movie of a new Terminator trilogy describing the End, the final clash between Mankind and machines. The sequels to Terminator Salvation will probably be much bleaker.

I'll watch it. Arnald is getting a bit long in the tooth.

You said it, Arnold actions days are long gone.

The looks like decent film I'm not sure if I'll watch it though. I do like those bikes at 0:44 though. They look like the bike out of The Dark Knight minus a rider.

You have to follow the story line to understand the terminator that Arnold plays was from the far future. The time between Judgement Day and that time there were many different versions building up to him. Unless time travel plays a factor in the 4th, he has not even been built yet... just lower versions...

sry, I geeked out for a sec, but I'm back. :-P

Looks good to me. I like the fact that they are taking a different direction and not sticking with a late 60's something Arnold there. This one is about him from what I can see. More about the fact the Conner is the one leading the fight. As was said in the other Terminator movies. I like CB as well. Great for the role of Conner."thumbsup"

Two of my buddies are in this movie. Pararescue guys are in a freefall sence with CB. They said he was a pretty cool guy. Trailer looks good. Honestly 3 sucked balls. This one looks like it has a much better story.

I know that;-)
The whole Terminator franchise has been centered around the role that Arnold plays.

2018? That's not too far off.

So when's the Apocalypse?

Jan 20th, 2009?

Actually, predictions for that are pretty close. The word is Dec. 21 2012...

But that claim is not from man vs machine, but has to do with the myan calander, magnetic pole shifting, etc. etc.

Sorry for the bad news, interesting reading anyway..."thumbsup"

GO BATMA.....I mean Christian... NO arnold though....he is running cali.. Eh, I like the old terminators more though, the ones that reasembled humans?

HD version of the trailer is on Apple.com Movie looks sick... I'll sure as hell go see it.

One thing bugs me about the Terminator franchise: The way the machines wage war on mankind.

Think about it. A nuclear war would a) not immediately accomplish that goal, and b) thoroughly wipe out all manufacturing facilities. The large-scale production of terminators and such is an inefficient use of materials. Once mankind is extinct the machines would have no purpose, unless they can be re-programmed as miners or factory workers.

Would machines (especially one with Skynet's artificial intelligence) commit themselves to such an illogical course of action? No, AI would seek out the enemy's weaknesses and exploit them. Skynet would know how good humans are at killing each other off. All we need is an excuse (and sometimes not even that). A little nudge in the right direction would be far more efficient than a nuclear war. We need food, machines don't. Therefore the food chain is where the attack would take place. Production and distribution. Smart-bomb attacks on grocery warehouses, stores, factories and farms would create enough shortages that we'd wipe ourselves out over the remaining supplies. Riots, small wars, gang warfare and total chaos would ensue after only a week. Pop-Tarts would be worth their weight in gold.

The fact that the US government would blame terrorists and bomb some third-world shithole would be a bonus. More humans dead, no significant loss of manufacturing capacity.

After a year, only the Amish would be left.

T5: Rise of the Amish, starring John Rob Homes as Eli Connor, coming soon to a theater near you.

Dec 25th 2012 (give or take a few hundred year) is the end of our age, and the beginning of the age of Aquarius. We are in the end of the Pisces age now, and the Mayan calendar stops and restarts upon the "dawning of the age of Aquarius".

All this crap about the world ending is just a misunderstanding of basic astrology- it is the astrological age that is ending. But the Amish will take over.
