I work in a window manufacturing plant, today I was cutting a custom Trapazoid window ,96"x72"x3/16". I was throwing away a piece of drop about the size of a large pizza box, the glass hit the edge of our dumpster, and a peice about the size of my shoe came shooting back at me....I saw the chunk flying my way and I tried to turn but wasnt quite fast enuf. The piece drilled me in what would have been my eye, this type of glass when cut is extremely sharp, ive seen it slice through rubberized leather gloves and the skin and tendons under, but because i wore my safety glasses and only have a small cut under my eye, and a small bruise where my glasses were pushed into my face. As much as they are uncomfortable, ugly, and cumbersome they are I will never go without them.

I had a piece of aluminum fly into my eye. It's now in my eyelid. It caused a big puss sack to form, then later became a blood filled sack. I messed with it enough to break off the sack, but it still oozes all the time. There's still a visible lump.

I like to learn the hard way.

PPE is the shiznt."thumbsup"

Maybe so, but I hate my Tyvek and respirator when its 100* in the middle of the summer. Glad I only have to wear that crap everyonce in awhile.

EeePee, you not go to the doctor?

Doctor? What's that? I only go to the "doctor" when my foot is flopping around seperate from my leg. And that's only because I had to drive stick shift for 3 hours to get home. "thumbsup"

Actually, the first time I had eyelid problems, I did go to the doctor. They clamped my eyelid, flipped it inside out, cut it open, scooped out whatever it was, made it a point to show me what they scooped out, then burned it back closed. Smelled great. Then unclamped it, and told me to blink. That stuff hurts!

The second time around it didn't seem as serious.

My eyesight is crap to begin with and I wear glasses that generally take them 2-3 weeks to make. The thought of scratching them and ruining a pair of glasses makes me wear goggles even when I'm just using my drill on high speed.

I'm all about safety and even have 3 extra pair of goggles in my garage for anyone else who happens to be there or if I can't find mine. Granted, they're all cheap goggles, but I won't go without them.

Somebody lock this thread befor Goat starts talking about he X-acto scrotum memories! PLEASE!!
