Ok boys and girls, ladies and gentlemen, and everyone in between....HMC #3 is about to begin!
This one is going to be different, its going to have a longer build time, and there will be three classes to compete in. There is even a prize for each winner!
Once again Mayhem has stepped up and graciously offered to sponsor the HMC. This time around they are offering up a nice set of Mitutoyo electronic micrometers!

CREEPERBOB has also come to the table with a pair of titanium axles!
And Jason has offered up RCC advertising for the Pro Class!
On to the details!
This time around we are going to have some fun. By fun I mean by making things fly, and by making things fly I mean projectiles.
Your challenge is to build a pencil shooter capable of propelling brand new, full length and sharpened #2 pencils into a target 15' away.
You must be able to shoot at least 5 of them within 30 seconds.
They can be propelled by any means you can come up with.
There is no restriction on build material.
On to the rules!
Prefab parts must be kept to a minimum! The more you build yourself the better! Don't shove a pencil down the barrel of a rifle and expect to win much other than a trip to the hospital...
You will have until July 1st to complete your project. A few days before I will post up and ask for your entries. Do not pm them to me ahead of time or post them here!
You will be required to submit not only pictures, but video of your project in operation. We aren't talking HD quality here, just something simple showing the thing doing what it is supposed to do.
There will be three classes! One for the machinist bunch, one for the non-machinist bunch, and one for the Pro machinists/vendors!
Yes, Ricky, you finally get your Hippy Dippy Craft Fair. "thumbsup"
Winners of the HMC get the calipers, winners of the HDCF get the Ti axles, winners of the Pro class get RCC ad space. You can only enter into one group, so choose wisely.
Judging for the HMC and HDCF will be done secretly by a panel of judges, the Pro class will be judged publicly and everyone is invited to cast their vote. If you want in, say so and include whether you are entering the HMC, HDCF, or Pro. As always, HMC entries are limited only to those with machining capabilities. If you do not have access to a mill or lathe, you are in the HDCF group. If you are a professional machinist/vendor, you are in Pro.
