The unofficial official axial portal buggy.

SMC was well loved until recently. They've had a lot of puffing lately as well.

Yup, unfortunately. I had several puff but not badly, still puffing none the less and they did nothing about it when contacted, meh.

I don't have a problem with the battery compartment size. You don't need a battery that fills the whole space perfectly, and there are tons of SMALLER batteries that should fit just fine. I've got a few 2200, 1000, and 600mah 3s's that should give an acceptable amount of runtime for the day's needs. I think the most expensive of those was only $16 from Value Hobby. The 2200 gives me about an hour (more if it's just trail cruisin') in my 8lb+ Wraith, so should do much better in a ~5lb Capra, and keeping a backup in my back pocket would be no big deal if more runtime was needed (I rarely burn through more than a 2200 on a single outing due to my limited mobility.) The smaller packs will be reserved for backyard driving and/or competition use where less weight up high would be appreciated more. In my opinion, the con of having to swap out multiple smaller packs is more than offset by the pros of less weight and a lower center of gravity.

Agreed! "thumbsup"

When I get my Capra, I'm going to put horns on the hood like they do in Texas. It'll give it that more authentic Capra, goat look. LOL

Rich posted this bad-ass photo on his FB page. A Capra rolling on Proline 5.4” Boggers on Vanquish Method 1.9 310 wheels.

My older (3600mAh) ProTek LiHV 3S is still going strong with no puffing whatsoever. Not denying they had issues (seen plenty of puffed ones in person), but apparently I won the ProTek lottery, lol.

Also, have a bunch of those horns and the ammo boxes in my "random spares" bin, have yet to find anything I thought they looked good on, lol...

Noticed this pic the other day:

The portal boxes look to require quite a bit inner diameter clearance on the wheels. Makes me wonder if a lot of wheels aren't going to work without wide hubs. Vanquish wheels are clearly an option but they have have a lot of inner clearance for 1.9s.

Is that because of the portals that they need that extra clearance? I'm anxious to see the inside of the wheels that come with the kit

Rich's pic is definitely making me lean towards 2.2 wheels and tires. It's also funny I was looking at the exact same Vanquish wheels too.

The taller tires hide the "gap" under the nose from the side view - wicked!

Thinkin it will be similar to the TRX4 where you’d want to avoid wheels with a back beadlock ring.

Sweet!

I literally posted moments ago about wanting to read it, had just checked the Axial site...

Thanks!

Edit: odd... Part# AXI230002 is listed in the manual as not included - it's the actual light board that goes on the roof-mounted lightbar. It's listed at RPP for $15.99.

The Capra page at Axial's site states:

"LED LIGHT BAR
A roof mounted LED light bar helps light the way on those late night crawls with your friends. Additional LED lights can be added to the front headlights (optional LED lights not included)."

Might be a little error. I would read this as the light in the bar is included, but the LEDs for the headlights are not.

Also - the manual doesn't have any upgrade parts listed (yet), so no surprises there.

Transmission looks very simple to build, I'd think the trickiest part of setting up the whole rig will be the dig servo.

They sure do. And after looking at that picture, I'm thinking that's the path I'm going to take.

Are there any other tires it there in a 1.9 bigger than 4.75"? I can't think of any...

I've got some Axial BFG Krawlers on hand for the initial build but I have no intention of sticking with the plastic cage for very long. Will probably want something taller, but would like to stick with a 1.9 rim.

Rich said the Capra wheels are standard backspacing. I don't think you have to worry much about wheel fitment unless you use old school wheels with a rear beadlock ring.

I don't remember ever having an issue with wheels on my TRX-4s.

Awesome! I've been checking for that daily.

JConcepts Ruptures are listed as 4.9" however they don't have a scale tread if that matters.
