Never saw a definitive answer in the lead up to release, but out of the box on stock wheels and Axial BFG Krawlers it misses the mark of being Class 3 legal just barely. I measure the distance between the tires as 7" on the nose and the width of the cage at the doors at 5.6".

7-5.6=1.4. 1.5" is the maximum.

Thank you!

For those of you that built your Capra, is your transmission really loud? Mine is smooth as hex, but loud when powered by the motor. So I'm thinking maybe I need to adjust my pinion to spur mesh even though it seems fine to me.

Also, is anybody getting the 8.25mm extended dimension for the Dig? Mine doesn't extend that far. I'm closer to 7mm.

My transmission got hot during bench testing it while trying to setup the dig. The transmission was also really loud so I took it apart. Turns out the slipper clutch/spur gear top shaft is bent. It's a very odd defect and I think it's a fluke. Rich was kind enough to send me one right away.

Other than that minor hiccup I'm very pleased with the build so far.

Interesting, someone said last night in a discussion it was 1.5" now. Either way with CI 6 bolt wheels, .225 hubs and 1.9 proline krawlers it is only 1/2" per side. I guess you'd have to pick a better tire and wheel combo. Especially considering you're talking about class 3 where small tires aren't the hot ticket to victory.

My plan is to run it for a little while bone stock, but be ready for C3 in 2020. Going to try and keep it on 1.9's too, which I know is a fools errand, but I'm a glutton for punishment. The plan is to get the wheels out a little further and build a new cage from 3/16" DOM to keep it legal. Kind of hoping for some new offerings in 1.9 tires bigger than 4.75", but if nothing else comes around I'll probably run the 5.4" tall PL boggers.

I think the new 2.2 5” Berzerker will be a good option for the Capra axle width

Just saw this on the booklet of faces and love it. @Durok I hope you see this as I know you hated that front nose.

Yeah, kinda neat...

But I'm still not really feelin' it.

I'm hoping someone will do something along those lines that might pique my interest more.

I’m wondering how a Tamiya Bug Body would fit.

Maybe, I think it needs to be a smaller than 1/10th body...

I forgot to mention I can stuff this 2200mah 3s zippy pack in the battery tray. There’s not room left for a fart but it fits.

The website lists it at 107mm but I’m measuring it to be a couple mm shorter than that

We may see more of this soon, I saw another post with a tamiya hilux on the Capra, with the bed bobbed and dovetailed around the rear cage.

Really just happy we’re already seeing people mix up the appearance of these, didn’t really expect that or even think of it myself.

I bet I could squeeze a fart in there beside your battery.
Just picked mine up today at the LHS.
All the YT vids has me convinced, so I caved.

Any suggestions for a budget friendly TX with a 3 position 3rd channel?

I was playing around with pinions and managed to get good mesh with an 11t. There's just enough adjustment to be able too get it too tight so I tried a 10t on. While the 10t could touch the spur, it's certain to die a rapid death with only about 1/2 engagement. I couldn't tell if I ran out of slot first, or if the Puller Pro Stubby hit the transmission case first, but either way, 11t was the end of the road for me. I didn't check the high end of adjustment, but I'll leave that to the guys with a need for speed.

Well, that answers half of the question many want to know ("low end" is 11T). All that's left is to know the "high end". Since I can't complete the TLR 22T I was building (thought I had a 13.5T motors, but turned out I didn't), while I wait for the motor to be delivered, I decided to go ahead and start the Capra build. Got as far as building the shocks, before calling it a night. Still, a was 1.75hrs well-spent.

On my next tear down (tomorrow? the day after?) I'm going to do something about speed, either re-gear or re-motor. I'm running a 13 turn 5 pole brushed motor and it strikes me as way too hot for this truck, at least as is.

Will you be creating a full build review thread?

Surprised a Capra section hasn't been created yet.

And mine is finally in its way.... Now what to build first... I have quite a back log going.
