But the budget is gettin' kinda slim. So I've narrowed my choice down to these 2 tires....

HPI GT "S" compound

and
Hot Bodies Deathgrip

on these wheels...
T-Maxx OEM

My question is, has anyone used a similar wheel / tire combo ?
Did you run with or without foams ?

crawler will be in the 9 - 10lb range similar to Mnster's Soya build Maxx..

IF, budget weren't a major concern, I'd be usng MaxiMizer bead locks, and Moabs...but it is...so any helpful advice with the combos Im looking at, or similarly priced options, will be greatly appreciated.

I'd rather help you out and send you what you want instead of having to go with what you are looking at. I have a ton of wheels and tires. I'll look this weekend and send some pics and you can choose. If that's cool with you. It's time to clean the shop out anyway.

I run standard maxx sized mashers on stock maxx wheels narrowed to 1 1/4" Great set-up for my comp crawler. Those other two sets of tires you showed have horrible compounds meaning the rubber isn't sticky to gain traction. Proline really makes the best tires, traction wise, for crawling right now. Tread design doesn't mean alot in scaled down rock crawling, its more about that sticky rubber. The mashers I use are a dollar more than either tire you showed and will have a ton of traction out on the rocks. Here's a link to tower

You'll need some way to fill in about a half inch all the way around the wheel to grab the bead of the tire.

MAN.....that WOULD BE A REAL BIG HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'd sure appreciate it.

Instead of coming in on this thread and flaming about how much the tires he picked suck  he comes in here and offers help like that. Thanks bracyesdad. If there is ever anything I can do for you just let me know. There are a few good people like this still on this board but there are alot more that are here just to start flaming. Once again. THANK YOU !!!!!

I haven't herd anything. Check CNN or the weather channel, that'll usually have it as a top event.
