I need the green 603 loctite or permatex green threadlocker.

I picked up the green thread locker (its not loctite brand) is it the same stuff?

I searched online but only found references to the color not really the brand. I need it for a pinion on my rc18t and mamba recommends the green 603 loctite. I am very confused. I went to the auto parts store and they handed me the permatex stuff (it just says green, no 603).

Any help would be appreciated. this is more thinking about threadlocker than I would like to have to do.

loctite 603 is a press fit bushing compund (for keeping bearings and bushings in place)
i believe this is a VERY strong compund and might be overkill for a small set screw on a pinion gear??
I use the blue stuff on everything unless it's a high vibration or problem screw, then I use the red

its actually 609 i miss typed it. but its straight from castle's site to use for the pinion. its going on a 8000kv motor so i need all the holding power i can get. plus they dont have flats on there motors and if you grind one on it voids the warranty.

603 is a bearing mounting compound! You don't want it anywhere on an RC car! We use it on heavy equipment to hold bearings in bores on Dozers and stuff that gets pounded on all day every day!8) Sux when you have to remove stuff then grind it out to put the thing back together.

Castle Creations recomends it because there is no flat spot on the motor shaft for the grub screw to bite. They want you to use it on the actual pinion/shaft, not the grub screw.

Try it with a grub screw and no thread lock first. My 6800 doesnt slip at all.

already tried that, and the motor shaft broke with correct gear mesh...

im going to use the green stuff, they said you can loosen it with a lighter. ill be fine.
