To buy, Or not to buy, MG995 servos

Yes, lets speak of ignorance. How many of these servos have you owned?

I'm not the one saying they're good or bad. I'm saying they might be worth the risk. They could be great, or they could be horrible. Mixed reviews thus far, and with such a supposedly cloned servo you might get a bad batch. Not ignorant at all. ;-)

I've had quite a few, most are in my box because the case is brittle and the ears break of, easily. The other problem is the case distorts real easy and generates alot of slop causing centering issues and stripped gears.

I have had some.....they all sucked. Yhey either just up and quit, broke the cases, or stripped the gears. I wouldn't waste my time.

Put Another 4 hour trial run on my 995 servo running 7 volts.. It was -10*c or 14*f with icy rocks. Not even so much as a glitch out of it.. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1328494852.743668.jpg

Not necessarily just some nerd with a webcam (seriously, does everyone on this site insult those who disagree with them?)... He mentioned how that model of servo had been cloned multiple times by multiple different companies. I'd believe it, and wouldn't be surprised if the ones in the Ebay ad are "clones of clones" (how he worded it) or just as bad as he made it sound. For 17 bucks for for, may be worth the gamble... I'd probably jump on it if I had more 2.2 trucks.

As much as I dislike "Jang" I think he's pretty fair in his reviews, and doesn't beat up on "cheapie" products just because they're not name brand.

Speaking of ignorance, your post is a shining example... Your little sampling of these clones obviously does not speak for all of them. How many different manufacturers are yours from? Do you know? If there's a bunch of different manufacturers producing these things, and they're all rip offs of each other, the quality is going to be hit and miss, and could very well be as junky as he described his to be.

Relevant analogy: none of my Xbox 360's have ever had the RRoD, therefore everyone else who's received a POS product must be full of shit, right? Here's another one for you: my grandmother's 2009 Toyota Camry never had any issues with unintended acceleration. Therefore everyone else = full of shit?

I'm taking the time to point out to you how ignorant your own line of logic is by attempting to throw insults because someone's experience with a product (which may or may not be identical) differs from yours and assuming that your copies are the same as his copies and that there is no varying quality between Chinese knockoffs. You can choose to fix that, or you can choose to continue being an ignoramus. :lmao:

Dude everything you say is contradicting yourself....your aguing against me and saying exactly what i am trying to point out...here i'll break it down one more time real slow....

1. I'm taking the time to point out to you how ignorant your own line of logic is by attempting to throw insults because someone's experience with a product (which may or may not be identical) differs from yours

now here is a great example... this video states how horible the these servos are...I simply stated my experiences are in fact different, as well as several other members in this very thread.

2.

seriously?? the video of your bff is exactly what you stated here... " i got a mg995 and it's junk so there all junk don't buy them" ... if you take the time to think before you type wich you should have plenty you will notice that I am not saying they are great servos or garbage as stated in the video... Im saying they are a good cheap servo that works and even the clones work and even the clones of clones work.

and on top of it all...

Your little sampling of these clones obviously does not speak for all of them. moron ...i've said a few times I do own a few of these servos...how many do you own? cause if I remember correctly you don't own any. You just said you would buy one cause for 17 bucks its worth the money.

Stop arguing nonsence, is it so hard to believe that they might actualy be a decent servo? or do you really believe everything some nerd with a webcam on youtube tells you?

I would say yes, but them, but not from there. Several of our vendors carry TP servos, and for the price they are a decent unit.

So unlike those of us that have or do actually own one or more of these, you have no real world experience with them?

I don't think the OP is looking for opinions from those who've only seen online reviews...

If you'd learn to read, Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude, you'd realize I'm not recommending anything other than that they might be worth the risk, and that for 17 bucks, you're not really out anything if they're bad (that is of course, if the shipping wasn't horrendous, which it is).

Apparently you guys have issues understanding what an "opinion" is. You guys have given your opinions that YOUR servos are good and worth the money you paid for them, and recommending that he buy them. The "nerd with a webcam" in the video gave his opinion on HIS servos, and recommended that people stay away from them. You guys don't agree so you turn to insults, because you believe your limited sampling of servos, which may or may not be clones (which the OP's link is more than likely said clones) speaks for all of the servos out there, therefore everyone else's opinions are wrong.

Diesel, you own several, yet you've failed to answer my question as to where they came from. Are they clones? Are they "clones of clones", ie: knock offs of knock offs, or perhaps they're the original TowerPro models? You're not just stating a differing opinion, you're giving your opinion as if it were fact, and trying to discredit the opinion of someone else- an opinion that seems to be shared by a few people posting in this very thread. For the record, NO, it is NOT hard to believe it may be a decent servo. As a matter of fact, I would purchase these on the off chance that they might be if I had any use for them, but unlike you, I'm not assuming that they will be decent servos, or that the can't be as horrible as the "nerd with a webcam" said his were. This is where my analogy came in- your servos were decent, so the supposed "nerd" must be full of it, just like since my Xbox's never had any problems, everyone else claiming they have had issues are full of it. Your limited sampling of these servos does NOT speak for all of them! This is common sense, Diesel.

Honestly though, you guys crack me up. I can tell everything I just posted will go way over your heads (yet again).

Your TowerPro 995 is not what is listed in the OP. They are unmarked and only say MG995, and are not listed as such. Your recommendation that these unmarked servos are good because your TowerPro is makes no sense, though perhaps an actual TowerPro is a better choice?

I bought four of these a while back, ran them (some of them) in a 1/8 bitro buggy.

1 = DOA
1 lasted half a tank
1 last a weekend.
never even fitted the 4th.

Hit and miss at best, unless QC has really improved.....

I mine look identical to the eBay mg995 servos in the first link on this page.. However.. MY recommendation does make sense.. I'm recommending the OP shop at deal extreme and get a servo for $10.75 with free shipping and forget about eBay. I'm saying Mine works awesome, and that's about all I've ever really said.. The version of the 995 I have from Deal Extreme works great. That's it..
Sorry if I sounded confusing,, just going real world experience with a version of the 995 servo.

Well it's still not getting through so I'll just drop it and move on, this shit is making me feel like I'm 12 again.

Final thought, to buy or not to buy......dont ask that. just do what you gotta do
