To whom it may concern,
I am in the process of building an RC version of my 2012 Toyota FJ Cruiser. It is being built with a Nikko body and a Tamiya CC-01 chassis. The body was painted by my buddy Andy (lappdogg). He did a hell of a nice job on it. I can't thank him enough. Like all great builds, this one has a story. I'm going to improve the RC as I build up the real one. So, it's all stock for now. Enjoy.

Shiny! I was almost too afraid too touch it.

CC-01. Extended wheelbase to 10.75".

Dressed up some Integy wheels. The real FJ still has the stock Bridgestones on it so I put an equally lousy set of tires on the RC. Toyota emblems are from Fubar Crawlers.

Painted the front springs red to match my Toytec springs.

The bumper that came with the body was cut by the previous owner so I scavenged the bumper from my first scale RC build. They should put that gem in a museum... :lmao:

It needed some work. Holes and scratches were filled.

How you gonna post a build based on yer real one and not post pics of the real one. C'mon n00bErZ you know better than that

Looks great man!

Nice lookin body Noob. Did this replace the Tundra? Those toyota hubs are a nice touch.

A good buddy of mine told me this once, and I think it rings true here as well.. :ror: :flipoff:

Thanks. It replaced the Tundra in real life, but I still have the RC version.

Aww, maaan, now I've got another one of your builds to follow. Like I don't have enough to do already. Sheesh....hang on. This is a good thing!

Keep making the rest of us look bad noob. We're just proud to watch.

Jim
Thank you! I appreciate the comment.

Whoever said that was probably a smart and handsome individual so I'll take it into consideration. :lmao:

Sun came out today. Still a few things to add to the little guy before it's done. Windshield wipers, license plates and antenna. Clear windows and interior a bit later.

That looks Amazing! Very Nice job! I can't believe your going to add interior to it as well.

That looks great mate. My Bro in law just baught one of these (1:1). He'd love the rc version. Im just stating to build one as my modern Toyota Hilux not available as far as i know in a RC Body. So building the FJ as the next best thing to my Lux. Nice work replicating your 1:1, wish i could do my Lux.

That looks awesome. Now if only someone would release a second generation tacoma like that I could mirror my full size.

Just when I finally got the motivation to finish my fj cc01 build and post it up, I see pardonmynoobs thread... Lol :P

I absolutely love your builds bro. You could've passed that last pic as your 1:1 and I wouldve believed you!

Thanks! I have to add an interior! Having an RC without one makes me nervous.

Thank you. A little styrene, some time and some imagination can build you a Hilux. Well, not even an imagination is needed since you have the real one in your driveway.

noob... always showing us up :)
I'm not trying to:oops:

Thank you! I'd love to have a second gen Tacoma as well. I used to have a double cab TRD.

Hey thanks man. Once the weather gets nicer I'll take them both out for a better photo shoot. And hopefully I'll have my 3" lift and 33's on by then too.

Just awesome, looks so real. Those FJ's are just so sweet looking!
Thanks!

I made a really short, really crappy video of it running around in the driveway. Every once in a while I build something that brings a smile to my face every time I drive it. Felt just like the day I brought the big one home.

3 inch lift in your 1:1 is a good lift for them, should still jeep good down travel in your front end. I run 3 inch in my lux here in Australia, works well. Scaler looks good too. What are the size tyres you used and brand etc. I have the same rims with rc4wd prowlers for my FJ and the prowlers though a small diameter for a 1.9 still look a tad large.?

I agree, 3 inch is a good lift for these. It makes them look right. I'm running some rock hard 1.9 Tamiya Hummer/Wrangler tires. I'm switching to RC4WD 1.55 Rock Crusher X/Ts soon. Going to stretch them over the 1.9 wheels.

Thats a good idea trying to stretch 1.55's over the 1.9's, hadnt thought of that. Have you tried before? Do you know if it hardens up the tyre tread as its stretched, di they still work ok if you know?

I've done it before. Actually, you can see them mounted in that one picture with that black FJ at the top of the thread. From what I can tell it doesn't alter the softness of the tire. It does bulge out the sidewall just a slight bit.

Do you like videos? What about boring videos? Or perhaps videos shot on a windy February day? If you answered 'yes' to all three of those you may watch this video.
