Hi Guys, It's me your friendly neighborhood Mainiac.
I got a Dinky R/C Trailer for Christmas from my pretty wife. I like it but thought it oughtta have Leaf springs.
Here's how it came out of the box...
All Sticked together. I used Oatey. Oatey rules because it's for ABS plumbing stuff. And the can is really explosive later.
I layed down some grey primer than a cool old cobalt blue. Scotchbrited it and then used some old antiquing paint I have.
And since we're in Maine, it's obviously a rust hound...
As far as the axles go, so far I have built the spring and shackle mounts and they're ready to go on. I drilled the mounts and the trailer to take a small piece of carbon fiber rod to keep everything located while the Oatey sets up and to help with sheer strength/side loads.
I will be clamping a small steel tube to the axles and running some threaded rod through it for the wheels/hexes to bolt to.
These wheels and tires are just for mockup. Something along the lines of the gmade steelies and a small 1.9 tire I think.
More Later, once I've, you know, done more.
