Traxxas Summit LT. It will be in the March issue of RC Car Action. It crawls and bashes like a champ. It really is a blast. Pro-Line Super Swampers 2.2's are the perfect dual role tires.
I'm in love with this set-up. How much do you have to modify to run these tires and wheels and set up? Are those traxxus wheels?

The process is pretty simple. I will show how to do it in detail in our March issue, but you basically need Traxxas Slayer Pro 4X4 arms, steering links, cantilevers and push rods. The arms need to be modified to work properly and you will need to swap springs and use 14mm hexes. Yes, those are Traxxas rims for the Slayer and Slayer Pro 4X4. The tires and foams have to be modified to work with the rims. I believe these are the best rims to use, but there are other options. Again, I'll show all the little tweaks that need to be donw in our March issue. There are a lot of clearance issues that pop up. Glad you like it. This truck is simply fun. I call it the ultimate RC hybrid.

Bit of a dead thread revival--I skimmed the article in the march issue--definitely looks intriguing. One thing I never like about the summit was its uber wide stance--looks funny compared to something more scale--I think this brings it back to being a bit more realistic (or at least not outlandish) I think I might give it a go...
I have had zero issues with my Summit...until I installed a Mamba Monster 2200kv system on 6s. DO NOT shift it while driving. I blew out lots of things then. In stock form it is a beast. I'm a Traxxas fanboy nutswinger though.

Actually the thread just became current since all the stuff they were talking about last year just came out in the march issue of RCCA. So we are current, it was the original posters who were just ahead of the game a bit...And yeah I haven't had any issues with my summit as well--love the 2 speed on the fly with locking diffs...

a friend of mine put slayer suspension on his summit shortly after the summit came out. it was pretty cool, still not a crawler though.

I'd love to see pics of your friends build. I essentially did the same thing, but used Slayer Pro 4X4 arms, links, etc. There's no real fabrication to be done, but going with short arms and 2.2 isn't exactly a direct bolt-on.
I would consider my Summit LT project a crawler. It is by no means a comp crawler, of course. That said, in low gear, with the diffs locked and with the Pro-Line Super Swamper tires, it can crawl.
