TRX-4 In stores

This is Traxxas trying to help out their dealers who actually have long fought the online buyers. They planned and made this happen so their biggest LHS sellers get shipments long before the mail order places. To help support the local shops first, because that is what made Traxxas what they are now, not the online only outlets.

I'm sure RPP got a few in being they have a store front, but they certainly have not received a very large order yet that would fill all their in house and online orders.

This came from FB so take it with a grain of salt but one guy said his LHS that has a store and online shop had to sign an agreement to only sell the TRX4 in store until July. Don't know if that is completely true but it seems plausible with all the online shops pushing their shipment dates to July.

That's an interesting theory.

Maybe Traxxas is doing it as a political move against a distributor for some reason. Because companies have to support their distributors as well in order to keep them happy...

I like RPP. And understand that. And told them I already knew what the cause was. Just irked me a little with 6 in front of my face and waiting possibly another month. This is a special situation but still I didn't cry to them about it. Just said fine maintain my order and I know traxxas was just trying to support physical lhs locations. My pockets run deeper than they used to, but not so much that I'd buy another now and try selling the one I've got coming in the mail.

This is nearly exactly what my local shop told me. They are the biggest and highest volume Traxxas shop in my state and they typically buy direct from Traxxas not the distributors, though they have and do still buy from the big name distributors, even Traxxas items. The shop doesn't maintain a well done online site but they did have to sign some agreement for the Demo and the shipments stating online sales were to be held back.

Traxxas has been their own distributor for some time. That doesn't mean they are a sole distributor, they still use the big names of course as well. They never loved just being a car company, they wanted to change the entire hobby to become what they are now.

It's more an appreciation thing they passed along to their best direct shops.

Explains why my LHS has no idea when they are coming in.
:lmao:

The first time I asked, which was only a couple of weeks ago, they didn't even know what I was talking about when I said "Traxxas crawler".

Odd, They called mine and they have them. I played with the demo there.
Go to the Traxxas web site where they will link you to them by zip code. My LHS was on top over Hobbytown

Hang up and Drive

I'm in the same boat with RPP, can't fault them. Typically a pre order implies that those get taken care of first. Whether or not it was a traxxas political or business decision, it's different. Either way the pre orders will be filled soon and I can sit back to see who has problems with what while getting prepared.

6 on my lhs shelves. In the next RPP message they still have no clue when they'll get them in. Ordered 5-3-17. They won't allow me to cancel the order to buy from my shop. At the least I learned about this specific policy.

Bummer, I don't and won't pre-order from anywhere that won't let me cancel and get my money back. I like RPP, but won't pre-order from them because of this.

Makes sense also from what my good LHS has said and Hobbytown is the last place I shop, they are usually so clueless and/or the owner/staff are unfriendly and lazy.

Explains why my LHS has no idea when they are coming in.

X2 "thumbsup"

Not really bragging, i was looking around if someone else could get a better deal when i asked, i since then learned the Company doing this for me was not making any money on it on account we are a good cutomer to them, so sorry if it came out different.

Let Traxxas catch that dealer... They're so controlling these days that they won't even allow coupons so selling at cost would probably get them in trouble with Traxxas.

From everything I have heard and read on this, this whole thing is an honest attempt by Traxxas to level the playing field between the online distributors/stores and the local hobby shops. Their first phase was to not allow stores like Tower to use coupon codes to buy Traxxas RCs. The problem is that a lot of LHSs have contracts with the big distributors like GP, and because of this are subject to the same distribution delays as the online stores (my LHS is in this boat). Seems like they didn't think the whole thing through, by trying to help the mom-n-pop stores, they are actually hurting them.

And, just for the record, I do not consider the local Hobby Town as a "LHS", they are a massive distributor that has physical stores. They also have employees that have a difficult time spelling "RC", to say nothing about giving good recommendations about them...

Not really bragging? You have just about 5000 posts on this forum so clearly you are not new to the hobby. You come on the thread titled "TRX4 now available" and ask if $100 off normal pricing is any good? You are getting this price from your supplier? So you own a hobby shop? You are a good customer of a company that supplies RC'S and you can't tell if you are getting a good deal on a RC? Lol like wtf.
